This full-time position is at the Naval Support Facility (NSF) Indian Head. Indian Head, Maryland, is approximately 30 miles from Washington, D.C., 25 miles from Alexandria, Virginia, and 60 miles from Fredericksburg, Virginia.\nJob Description:\nPerform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel, natural gas, and propane-powered generators\nConduct routine operational testing, load bank testing, and emergency power system exercises\nTroubleshoot mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, and control system issues\nReview technical manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer specifications to diagnose equipment problems\nRespond to generator failures and emergency service calls to restore critical power systems\nEnsure compliance with applicable safety regulations, environmental requirements, and client procedures\nQualifications and Skills:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in facilities maintenance, engineering, or a related field is preferred\nMinimum of 3 years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial, industrial, or mission-critical generator systems\nExperience troubleshooting diesel engine systems, electrical controls, and power generation equipment\nProven history of standing up PM program and familiarity with PM program metrics a plus\nWorking knowledge of generators ranging from small portable units to large industrial (500kW+) standby systems\nAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\nMilitary, federal facility, or mission-critical infrastructure experience is preferred\nThis position will require a pre-employment physical exam\nThis position requires lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds\nWork may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g., fumes, noise, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals)\nYou may be required to participate in medical surveillance programs\nMust be able to perform work above shoulder level, including reaching, lifting, and manipulating tools and materials overhead\nMust be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and reach during shifts\nMust be able to use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items\nMust be able to safely climb and descend ladders, stairways, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms and perform work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet (where applicable)\nMust currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance\nMust be a U.S. citizen, as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations\nEmployees must maintain the ability to safely perform these essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation, as a condition of employment.
