The ideal candidate should be capable of scoping, estimating, and planning for minor HVAC repair projects and must be motivated with the skills to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.\nThis full-time position is at the Naval Support Facility (NSF) Indian Head. Indian Head, Maryland, is approximately 30 miles from Washington, D.C., 25 miles from Alexandria, Virginia; and 60 miles from Fredericksburg, Virginia.\nJob Description:\nInstall, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units \nDiagnose and repair electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of these systems \nPreventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair to a variety of commercial HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, water source heat pumps, cooling towers, package rooftops, split systems, controls, pumps, VAVs \nSupport the full life cycle of small-scale projects from initial concept design through project completion \nPerform routine maintenance tasks on facilities and equipment, including HVAC, electrical, digital controls, and other mechanical systems \nTroubleshoot and diagnose problems with facilities and equipment, and repair or replace defective parts as needed \nRespond to emergency maintenance requests \nConduct site visits to document existing facility conditions and develop new requirements \nPrepare technical memoranda/reports to document facility conditions and project status \nEnsure that all facilities are in compliance with applicable codes and regulations \nMaintain accurate records related to maintenance activities and administrative tasks, including work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, equipment inventory, and time sheets \nQualifications and Skills:\nAt least 2 years of HVAC experience and current Journeyman licensure \nHigh school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in facilities maintenance, engineering, or a related field preferred \nEnvironmental Protection Agency (EPA) Refrigerant Reclamation and Recovery Certification \nAbility to read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints \nStrong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other mechanical systems \nBe familiar with a wide range of equipment and troubleshooting techniques \nExperience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) required \nFamiliarity with state and local building codes, OSHA regulations, and NFPA standards a plus \nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills \nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills \nAbility to work independently and as part of a team \nMust currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance\nMust be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations \nThis position will require a pre-employment physical exam\nThis position requires lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds\nWork may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g., fumes, dust, noise, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals)\nYou may be required to participate in medical surveillance programs\nMust be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and reach during shifts\nMust be able to use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items\nMust be able to safely climb and descend ladders, stairways, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms and perform work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet\nMust be able to perform work above shoulder level, including reaching, lifting, and manipulating tools and materials overhead\nEmployees must maintain the ability to safely perform these essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation, as a condition of employment.
