Are you in?\nAbout this opportunity\nBoard Power Radio works with research, development, and maintenance of board power solutions for the majority of Ericsson’s radio product portfolio, enabling world-class 5G and future 6G networks. As part of Ericsson’s global design organization, board power design has become one of the most important and challenging areas within hardware, strongly influencing product size, thermal performance, and overall system architecture.\nWe are now looking for a senior Board Power Designer to join our competent and collaborative team. In this role you will contribute to discrete board power solutions for Ericsson Radio projects and work closely with colleagues across global design centers to realize efficient, robust, and competitive radio products.\nYou will\nTake a key role in defining board power architectures for new and existing radio products, from early technology studies and pre-development through realization and product validation\nDesign and optimize high-power DC/DC converters and point-of-load regulators, including selection of topologies, components, and control strategies to meet challenging efficiency, cost, and area targets\nDevelop protection and supervision functions, EMI/EMC-aware filtering, isolated converters, and magnetic components as fundamental parts of the power solution.\nPerform power system simulations and modeling - from converter level to board power distribution - to predict behavior, shorten development lead times, and secure robust designs\nPlan and execute board power verification from bring-up through compliance readiness, using established verification instructions, checklists, and measurement methods, ensuring performance against defined budgets and real product conditions (EMC-sensitive interfaces, system stress scenarios).\nWork hands-on in the lab with state-of-the-art instruments and techniques, from prototype bring-up and debugging to characterization and long-term reliability investigations\nCollaborate closely with system design, digital and RF design, mechanical and thermal design, as well as global production sites and other design centers to secure an end-to-end optimized solution\nMentor and support other power designers, sharing your expertise and contributing to a strong and vibrant global power design community\nYou will bring\nBSc or MSc in Electrical Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent\n5+ years of experience in board power / power electronics design for complex hardware products, covering both analog and digital power hardware\nProven skills in high-power DC/DC converter design; experience with AC/DC front-end design is considered a strong merit\nSolid experience in schematic capture and PCB layout for power designs, using tools such as Cadence or Mentor Graphics (or equivalent EDA tools)\nStrong lab skills: comfortable working with oscilloscopes, power analyzers, network analyzers, and other equipment, including safe handling of high-power setups and interpreting complex measurements\nExperience with power converter and power system simulation, including model creation, interpretation of results, and correlation with lab measurements\nFamiliarity with board power verification practices: budgeting, PDN constraints, EMI/EMC considerations, and compliance-oriented test planning\nApplicable communication skills and proficiency in English, both spoken and written; Japanese language skills are an advantage\nAs a person you\nAre curious, self-driven, and eager to learn - you enjoy challenging the status quo and improving ways of working in a collaborative team setting\nWork well independently but thrive in a team, always putting common goals first\nEnjoy networking and building contacts across disciplines, sites, and cultures\nAre comfortable taking initiative, driving topics from idea to implementation, and acting as a mentor and technical reference in your field\nWhat we offer\nA central role in the establishment and growth of a new R&D center in Yokohama, with labs and offices designed for cutting-edge radio development\nWork with cutting-edge radio hardware that enables 5G and future network technologies\nBe part of a highly skilled, collaborative team with a strong engineering culture\nHave real impact on product performance, quality and time-to-market for our radio portfolio\nAccess continuous learning and development in both technical and project leadership areas\nOpportunities to work on products that shape national and global digital infrastructure\nA culture that values innovation, collaboration, and speaking up - many career directions and internal mobility\nWorking with people of different nationalities and cultures and building up a broad global network\nBecoming a part of a highly diverse team with varied strengths and taking part in all kinds of activities that come with this role\nWhy join Ericsson?
