As the industry moves further into 5G and cloud-native technologies, our solutions are increasingly deployed in complex, distributed environments built on public cloud and Cloud-as-a-Service (CaaS) platforms.\nWe are now looking for an experienced engineer to help us prepare, integrate and verify our Packet Core User Plane solution for deployment in our customers' cloud-native environments.\nOur ideal candidate does not need to be an expert in every technology mentioned below. We value strong engineering fundamentals, curiosity and the ability to learn quickly just as much as specific domain knowledge. If you enjoy understanding complex systems, solving challenging technical problems and taking ownership of issues, we will help you build the Packet Core and telecom expertise you need for the role.\nOur product\nWe are responsible for the development and maintenance of the Packet Core User Plane. The User Plane handles packet routing and forwarding in mobile data networks between the internet and the radio network. All 3G, 4G and 5G mobile traffic passes through the User Plane.\nOur solution runs on multiple platforms, including carrier-grade routers, virtual machines and containers, and is increasingly integrated into cloud-native environments and customer-specific CaaS solutions.\nThis role focuses on making the complete solution work reliably in these environments.\nThis role goes beyond traditional software testing. You will work as a system-level engineer, solving complex integration and troubleshooting challenges across the Packet Core, cloud, infrastructure and networking layers.\nThe skills you bring\nWe are looking for an experienced engineer with strong technical fundamentals and an engineering mindset. Your background may be in cloud, networking, telecom, system integration, software or another related technical domain.\nYou do not need to have experience with every part of our technology stack. What matters most is your ability to understand complex systems, investigate problems systematically and learn new technologies quickly.\nStrong engineering mindset and a systematic, analytical approach to solving complex technical problems. \nStrong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills, preferably in distributed or cloud-based systems. \nSolid understanding of Linux and computer networking, including TCP/IP and network troubleshooting. \nExperience working with complex software, cloud-native technologies, containers and/or Kubernetes, distributed systems. \nExperience in software verification, system integration, deployment or troubleshooting of complex software solutions. \nAbility to understand and troubleshoot problems across multiple layers of an end-to-end system. \nCuriosity and a strong willingness to learn new technologies and domains. \nAbility to work independently, take ownership of problems and drive them towards resolution. \nStrong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly. \nConfidence in working directly with customers and other external stakeholders. \nFluent English, both written and spoken. \nWhat you will do\nPrepare, integrate and verify the Packet Core User Plane solution in customer-specific cloud-native CaaS environments. \nWork with public cloud and containerized infrastructure as part of complex end-to-end solutions. \nInvestigate and troubleshoot issues across the full solution stack, from Packet Core components and applications through cloud infrastructure, containers and networking. \nAnalyze logs, traces, metrics, packet captures and other technical information to identify root causes and drive issues towards resolution. \nDesign and execute verification activities to validate that the complete solution meets functional, integration and deployment requirements. \nCollaborate with software developers, system engineers, cloud experts and other stakeholders to investigate and resolve complex technical problems. \nWork directly with customers during issue investigation, including technical discussions, fault reporting and joint troubleshooting. \nTake ownership of technical issues and drive them to resolution, even when the root cause crosses organizational or technology boundaries. \nPrepare and maintain test and integration environments and continuously improve the way we verify and troubleshoot our solutions. \nAutomate repetitive verification and troubleshooting activities using scripting and appropriate tools. \nDocument findings, root causes and solutions and communicate technical information clearly to both internal stakeholders and customers. \nCooperate with other engineering and verification teams across Ericsson to ensure a consistent end-to-end solution.\nIt is an advantage if you have\nExperience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud. \nExperience with CaaS environments and Kubernetes-based deployments. \nKnowledge of Packet Core architecture and 3GPP standards. \nExperience with mobile networks, L2/L3 networking or telecom protocols. \nExperience with IPSec, L2TP, TLS, MPLS, CGNAT, BGP, GRE or similar technologies. \nExperience with observability and troubleshooting tools, including logs, metrics, traces and packet captures (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Wireshark) \nExperience with Python or other scripting and automation languages. \nExperience working in a customer-facing engineering, system integration or technical support role. \nExperience with Java, Gherkin or similar verification technologies. \nWhy join Ericsson?
