You will invent, implement, and evaluate algorithms that power next-generation video coding standards shaping the technology stack of 6G and AI-native media.\nWhat You Will Do\nInvent novel video coding tools (signal processing and neural approaches) to improve video coding performance and efficiency as well as invent ways to increase robustness and flexibility of video coding standards.\nImplement inventions in software (C++/Python) and run large-scale evaluations.\nDrive technical contributions to JVET/MPEG standardization, author patents and publications.\nCollaborate with researchers and engineers across Ericsson as well as leading industry and academia experts globally.\nContribute to Ericsson’s video coding research and standardization strategy.\nProvide technical leadership and supervision.\nThe Skills You Bring\nWe welcome experienced candidates who:\nHold M.Sc. or Ph.D. in a relevant technical field.\nHave a proven track record of video coding research with evidence of adopted contributions to JVET/MPEG (and/or other relevant SDOs), granted patents, or peer-reviewed publications.\nHave a proficient knowledge of relevant video coding standards (e.g., HEVC/H.265, VVC/H.266), deep understanding of image and video processing algorithms across end-to-end video coding pipeline and solid expertise in codec high-level syntax.\nHave experience of driving and leading technical work.\nHave strong coding skills in C++ and/or Python.\nCan communicate complex technical ideas clearly and concisely.\nNice to have:\nExperience of holding editor, coordinator, or ad-hoc group roles in JVET/MPEG or relevant SDOs.\nExperience of shaping organization’s video coding standardization strategy.\nExperience of technical leadership in an international research team.\nExperience of giving talks or tutorials at relevant academia and industry events.\nWhy join Ericsson:\nBe part of Europe’s leading tech company at the forefront of 6G and global standards.\nWork with a top-tier international research team and shape direction of next generation video coding standards.\nHave a real impact at scale with your innovations targeting billions of devices and a large share of global data traffic.\nPerform at your best, enabled by a healthy work-life balance and a commitment to long-term, sustainable progress.\nLocation: for this job opportunity is Stockholm Sweden.
