This is a key leadership role within the Financial Controllership function, responsible for ensuring financial integrity, statutory compliance, and a robust controls environment for ERM's Italian legal entities.\nThe Role\nThe Financial Controller acts as the primary owner of the local financial control framework and statutory reporting processes. Working closely with the Global Delivery Centre (GDC), external auditors, tax advisors, business leaders, and regional finance teams, you will ensure compliance with Italian accounting and regulatory requirements while providing valuable financial insight and governance.\nKey Responsibilities\nFinancial Control & Governance\nDrive and oversee the overall financial controls environment.\nReview and approve key balance sheet reconciliations and financial positions prepared by the GDC.\nIdentify risks and opportunities within financial reporting and provide recommendations to leadership.\nEnsure adherence to ERM policies, controls, and accounting standards.\nStatutory Accounting & Compliance\nLead statutory accounting activities and ensure compliance with Italian GAAP and local regulatory requirements.\nMaintain oversight of local statutory books and reporting obligations.\nSupport VAT and other local compliance requirements in collaboration with specialist teams.\nAudit & External Reporting\nLead statutory, tax, and financial audits.\nCoordinate with external auditors and advisors.\nSupport Group audit requirements and ensures timely resolution of audit matters.\nAccounting Expertise\nProvide expert accounting guidance and judgement on complex transactions and financial adjustments.\nPartner with the GDC to ensure accurate accounting treatment and consistent application of policies.\nBusiness Partnership\nCollaborate with Finance Directors, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, HR, and operational leaders.\nDeliver high-quality financial insight to support decision-making and business performance.\nContribute to finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.\nSkills & Experience\nEssential\nDegree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.\nSignificant experience in financial controllership, accounting, audit, or finance management.\nStrong knowledge of Italian GAAP, statutory reporting, and compliance requirements.\nExperience managing external audits and regulatory relationships.\nExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.\nStrong Excel and ERP system experience.\nFluent Italian and English (C1).\nPreferred\nProfessional accounting qualification (Dottore Commercialista, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent).\nExperience within a multinational or professional services environment.\nExposure to shared service or global delivery models.\nKnowledge of IFRS and international reporting environments.\nWhy Join ERM?\nBe part of the world's leading sustainability consultancy.\nPlay a key role in a major finance transformation programmed.\nWork within a collaborative international finance community.\nInfluence financial governance and decision-making across the business.\nAccess excellent professional development and growth opportunities.\nERM is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.\nThe recommended recruiting range for this role is €48,000 - €63,000.\n⠀\nERM is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive, it’s an essential part of what makes ERM a great place to build a career and helps us create better solutions for our clients.\nWe welcome talent from all backgrounds and provide equal opportunities for every candidate.
