In this critical role, you will be responsible for engaging with client and contractor team members in the field to facilitate safe work practices, embrace client safety culture expectations, and maintain compliance with the client’s Contractor Safety Program elements and other applicable safety regulations (e.g., Cal/OSHA, GO 95, 128,165, IBEW Red Book, T&D Grounding Manuals and contractor safety program requirements including TD-1464S). The Safety Specialist will have broad knowledge of Safety compliance programs and, where required, Safety specialty areas This position works to promote a safe work environment by confirming that contractors and the project team, at a minimum, clearly understand the roles and responsibilities related to reviewing drawings; identifying known hazards; and communicating policies, standards, and procedures applicable to the work. The role includes responsibility of timely notification to management and the safety team about any safety issues. This is a full-time (40hrs/week), fixed term position for a duration of 12 months, renewable.\nRESPONBILITIES:\nManage the receipt, review, provide feedback for contractor safety related documents (e.g. Programmatic Safety Plans, Project Specific Safety Plans [PSSPs], Job Safety Analyses [JSAs], Field Safety Observations).\n\nInspect site activities specifically during the kick-off and implementation of medium and high-risk scope activities.\n\nPerform Field Safety Observations as established by the frequency and level for each contractor and subcontractor in accordance with the SSSP/PSP.\n\nProvide on-site occupational safety support to identify, prevent, and mitigate safety risks.\n\nDocument and retain safety documents in accordance with client requirements.\n\nTake direction from client Supervisors and Management responsible for Contractor Safety.\n\nLead and/or participate in safety incident investigations, root cause evaluations, etc.\n\nAssign and/or coordinate with team members to address corrective actions and communicate as appropriate with team members to prevent repeat occurrences.\n\nShare safety information to all in an impactful, constructive, and results-oriented manner.\n\nCommunicate safety trends and recommends safety corrective actions.\n\nCapable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions that are unsanitary or dangerous.\n\nHas training, knowledge, or experience related to the work to be performed and knowledge of the appropriate mitigation measures for the associated hazards.\n\nHas formal training to identify and mitigate hazards associated with specific high-risk activities associated with high voltage work.\n\nFamiliar with Contractor Safety Program requirements.\n\nCan reference, reinforce, and communicate expectations associated with Cal/OSHA safety regulations and requirements, IBEW Red Book, Grounding practices, GO 95,128,165 and contractor Safety requirements including TD-1464S.\n\nSchedule, initiate and lead in safety kick-off meetings and participate in daily safety meetings with contractors.\n\nDeliver training to support the communication of established processes or procedure requirements to stakeholders.\n\nServe as a resource for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the client company-wide initiatives.\n\nUtilize safety trend analysis (Field safety observations and other means) to identify and mitigate actions to correct gaps, introduce and implement innovative solutions with impact to correct gaps, and communicate opportunities for improvement.\n\nREQUIREMENTS:\nMinimum 5 years’ experience working with electric line construction crews.\n\nMinimum two years’ experience performing safety observations over contractors.\n\nRequired to have taken OSHA 30-hour or equivalent experience.\n\nPhysical demands required for the successful performance of this job include standing and/or walking for long hours in a day on uneven and steep terrain, and possibly during variable weather conditions.\n\nMust be comfortable working in remote / rural areas.\n\nPersonal vehicle required.\n\nDriver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.\n\nDemonstrated ability to provide detailed regulatory interpretation of Cal/OSHA, GO 95, 128,165, IBEW Red Book, T&D Grounding Manuals and contractor safety program requirements including TD-1464S).\n\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.\n\nHave all FR clothing including EH boots.\n\nPay Transparency:\nFor the Safety Specialist position we anticipate the annual base pay of $91,998.40 - $109,990.40, $44.23- $52.88/hr, limited-term, non-exempt.An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above.This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/Flexforce employees are NOT bonus eligible).\nWe offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life & disability insurance to benefits eligible * employees.\n*Benefits Eligibility is limited to Regular employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week.Fixed-Term employees (including Flexforce) who are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours a week or more are eligible for a limited benefits package.Casual employees are NOT benefits eligible.
