Now a wholly owned subsidiary of ERMCO, we operate with the agility of a startup and the backing of an industry leader.\nJob Summary\nThe Electrical Test Technician is an advanced level role responsible for the assembly, wiring, testing and troubleshooting of transformer testing equipment for distribution transformers (1 phase and 3 phase pole and pad mount transformers, dry type transformers). As an experienced technician, this role involves providing technical support on complex projects, mentoring less experienced technicians and solving wiring and assembly related issues.\nThis role will be onsite in Raleigh, NC. Relocation Assistance is available.\nResponsibilities\nPerform a variety of electrical tests including ratio, resistance, power factor, high power tests, Temperature Rise Test, high voltage tests including Impulse, Applied, Partial Discharge as per standards (e.g., UL, CSA, IEEE, IEC, NEMA).\nMust have a high level of safety awareness and perform work in a safe manner.\nPerform assembly of sensitive electrical and electronic equipment.\nReading electrical diagrams/schematics and making the wiring based on the drawings.\nTroubleshooting and fixing errors in drawings and applying the corrections in final assembly.\nTesting the final equipment as per standards and instructions.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless integration of designs into production.\nMentor and guide junior technicians by offering technical expertise, support, and development opportunities.\nInform the engineers regarding the potential improvements.\nQualifications\n2 year degree in electrical and electronics technology. \n8-10 years of experience in electrical technology, transformer testing, field service with a focus on transformer or related product testing and troubleshooting.\nProven ability to perform the electrical tests and interpret the results.\nExtensive experience with electrical testing of transformers and testing equipment.\nExperience and knowledge of industry standards (e.g., UL, CSA, IEEE, IEC, NEMA) and regulatory requirements for transformers or components.\nMust have basic computer skills\nExperience with reading electrical diagrams and schematics.\nExperience with wiring of control cubicles and assembly of electrical parts.\nProblem-solving abilities, capable of addressing technical challenges independently.\nEffective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.\nHighly organized, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities.\nAdditional Desired Experience\nMachining, mechanical assembly, and use of CAD tools.\nLab management, including equipment calibration tracking, engineering materials inventory.\nSafety systems, standards, and procedures such as MSDS, interlocks, LOTO, NFPA and OSHA.\nLet’s Build the Future Together\nAt ERMCO, your ideas matter, your growth is supported, and your impact is real.
