This role is about more than audits and controls; it's about being a part of a team that is integral to ensuring that government departments and agencies operate at their best. Your work will help to enhance the services government delivers to citizens, safeguard public funds, ensure compliance with regulations, and provide insights that lead to better governance and service delivery.\nYour leadership will drive the enhancement of services delivered to citizens, safeguard public resources, ensure regulatory compliance and provide strategic insights for improved governance and service delivery.\nThis role is based in Canberra - Ngambri; however, we are open to candidates located anywhere across Australia who can work remotely. All you need is relevant experience and Australian Citizenship. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours - please speak with us about potential options.\nYour key responsibilities\n\nLead the delivery internal audit projects, ensuring that all engagements are completed on time, within scope and to the highest standards of quality.\nWork closely with clients to understand their risks and develop tailored internal audit strategies that effectively address risk management and process controls.\nApply your project management skills to oversee the successful execution of audit plans, from initiation to completion.\nSkills and attributes for success\n\n5+ years’ experience in project delivery, perhaps within the internal audit or risk management space, or within the public sector.\nA foundation in risk and control principles, a track record of managing audit or risk related projects with diligence and precision, or a willingness to learn.\nAustralian citizenship and the ability to work in Canberra. The applicant needs to be willing to hold or upgrade to an NV1 clearance.\nA strong sense of curiosity and a passion for solving problems.\nA strong grasp of risk and control principles and a keen understanding of public sector challenges and opportunities.\nA proven track record in leading and delivering challenging projects.\nKnowledge of risk management, control frameworks and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of audit quality and integrity.\nDemonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to manage and inspire a team of professionals through all phases of the audit lifecycle (or similar projects).\nExperience in developing and executing internal audit strategies and roadmaps, or a keen interest to learn.\nA consultative approach to building client relationships, with a focus on understanding client needs and delivering tailored solutions.\nIdeally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes.
