We are looking for a curious and experienced Senior Data Analyst to join our Data and Insights team within the Performance and Implementation group.\n\nThis is an opportunity to lead complex data projects, contribute to the strategic direction of the group, and coach and mentor others to deliver high-quality work.\n\nAs Senior Data Analyst, you will collect, organise, analyse and interpret data to provide meaningful insights. You will translate complex technical information into clear language for leaders, Ministers and broader audiences, and turn business requirements and feedback into precise technical specifications for data teams.\n\nReporting to the Chief of Data and Insights, you will play a leadership role in designing and delivering the team's work programme and help build data capability across ERO.\n\nKey responsibilities include:\n\nDesigning, developing and leading data projects across ERO and with education sector partners\n\nProviding expert advice on using data and analysis to improve efficiency, quality and business practices\n\nCollecting, managing, analysing and visualising ERO and education sector data\n\nResponding to information requests and working with stakeholders to interpret and validate results\n\nDeveloping measurement frameworks and methodologies to monitor ERO's performance and impact\n\nMaintaining clear documentation of business rules, methodologies, definitions and assumptions\n\nSupporting robust commissioning, management and quality assurance processes\n\nBuilding capability through coaching and mentoring within the team and across ERO\n\nMōhou ake | About you\n\nYou will be a highly skilled analyst with advanced quantitative capability, sound judgement and the confidence to communicate complex findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.\n\nTo be successful in this role, you'll bring:\n\nA relevant tertiary qualification\n\nAdvanced technical skills using tools such as MS Excel, RStudio, Power BI, Stata or SQL to collect, manage, analyse and visualise data\n\nStrong knowledge of statistics and statistical modelling, including regression modelling\n\nThe ability to lead complex work programmes and deliver high-quality work under pressure\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication and confidence presenting to multiple audiences\n\nSound judgement and an innovative approach to identifying, analysing and resolving problems\n\nA working knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications for the education sector\n\nKnowledge of the New Zealand public sector and experience working with Ministers\n\nCuriosity, integrity, adaptability, self-motivation and a commitment to ongoing learning.\n\nKo mātou | About Us \n\nAt ERO you'll find:\n\nMeaningful work that contributes to better outcomes for children and young people\n\nThe opportunity to shape how data and evidence inform decisions across a national organisation\n\nA collaborative team that values curiosity, creativity, quality and continuous learning\n\nWork with ERO leaders, education agencies, institutions and research communities\n\nThe opportunity to coach others and build data capability across ERO\n\nFlexible ways of working and a focus on wellbeing.\n\nMe pēhea te tuku tono | How to apply \n\nIf you are a curious, experienced data analyst who can turn complex information into clear, actionable insights, we'd love to hear from you.\n\nPlease click “Apply” to view the full position description and submit your application.
