Our more than 2,000 IT experts and enthusiasts are the bank's Digital Muscle.\nWhat to do:\nDesign, implement and continuously improve our enterprise backup solutions and platform capabilities.\n\nProvide Level 3 technical expertise and support for IBM Storage Protect, Veeam and DataDomain infrastructure.\n\nTroubleshoot and resolve complex incidents and problems, identifying and eliminating root causes rather than only addressing symptoms.\n\nOwn the reliability, availability and performance of backup services and continuously improve them against defined SLAs and SLOs.\n\nImplement monitoring, alerting and observability to provide clear insight into the health, capacity and performance of backup services.\n\nAutomate operational activities, provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Ansible, scripting or similar technologies.\n\nDevelop self-service capabilities and standardized solutions to reduce manual activities and improve the experience of internal customers.\n\nCollaborate with infrastructure, application, database and cloud teams to design and implement effective backup, recovery and disaster recovery strategies.\n\nAct as a technical advisor to the Product Owner, challenge existing solutions where appropriate, advocate for high-quality engineering standards, and drive informed technical decisions.\n\nProactively evaluate the current platform, identify technical debt and opportunities for improvement, research emerging technologies, and recommend solutions that improve reliability, efficiency and scalability.\n\nParticipate in disaster recovery planning, backup recovery exercises and resilience testing.\n\nDefine and maintain standards, best practices and reusable patterns for backup and recovery.\n\nCreate and maintain high-quality operational and technical documentation, including runbooks and recovery procedures.\n\nParticipate in an on-call support rotation and contribute to improving operational readiness and reducing recurring incidents.\n\nContribute to SRE practices such as automation, observability, incident management, problem management, capacity planning and continuous improvement.\n\nRequirements\nYou check these boxes:\n3+ years of active recent experience managing enterprise backup solutions such as IBM Storage Protect (TSM), Veeam and DataDomain, or similar technologies.\n\nStrong knowledge of backup, restore and recovery concepts, including backup policies, retention, replication and disaster recovery.\n\nHands-on active experience with enterprise infrastructure and troubleshooting of complex backup environments.\n\nRecent experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management; Terraform and/or Ansible is a strong advantage.\n\nRecent active experience with scripting or programming for automation, preferably Python, PowerShell or similar.\n\nUnderstanding of monitoring and observability concepts and experience working with monitoring or logging platforms.\n\nUnderstanding of SRE/DevOps principles and a willingness to apply them to backup infrastructure.\n\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on root-cause analysis and long-term solutions.\n\nStrong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical teams and with internal customers.\n\nProactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility for the reliability of the platform.\n\nProfessional Skills:\nBuilds reliable systems and thinks ahead about what can go wrong, making sure services remain resilient, recoverable and continuously improve over time.\n\nTakes ownership of work from start to finish and works closely with others to deliver the right outcome for internal customers.\n\nAutomates repetitive work and looks for opportunities to eliminate manual processes and operational toil.\n\nKeeps things simple, focuses on what matters, and removes unnecessary steps or complexity.\n\nActs quickly on the most important work, adapts when needed, and learns from incidents and feedback.\n\nUses data, monitoring and operational insights to make informed decisions and continuously improve the platform.\n\nSupports others, leads by example, shares knowledge and helps create an environment where people can do their best work.\n\nLearns fast, adjusts easily to change, and keeps improving in a fast-moving environment.\n\nDelivers strong results and helps raise the engineering maturity of the whole team.\n\nContributes to a positive team culture by being open, respectful and constructive, and by not tolerating toxic behavior.\n\nWhy you will like us:\nPossibility to benefit and learn from our international, talented and passionate community at Erste\n\nInterest groups and clubs: Take part in discussions and get involved in projects.
