The STSS is responsible for driving safety improvement across the South-East Region. This includes, monitoring safety trends, driving safety initiatives, measuring and reporting on progress of safety targets, completing investigations and reports, engaging with contractors, staff and managers across the organisation on safety related matters.\nThe STSS will provide safety and technical expertise to support the CPS Regional Manager, Area Mangers, Project Leaders, Area Supervisors, Supervisors and team members to maximise safety performance.\nThe STSS leads and promotes a safety culture amongst staff and contractors so that safe behaviour becomes the norm and that the business unit target of zero lost time injuries is achieved.\nKey Responsibilities\nEnsure that staff and contractor personnel complete work safely to the required standards.\nEnsure a safe working environment for staff, contractors and the public. \nCarry out safety and quality audits as per agreed audit schedule and provide feedback on performance.\nMonitors and uses the Safety Management System available to Staff & Contractors and promotes and monitors Local Safety Plans to achieve safety improvements.\nCo-ordinate staff, contractor and public safety improvement plans.\nPromoting a positive safety culture.\nLead Safety Towards Zero Accidents.\nPromoting Public Safety Policy.\nAccident Investigation.\nAudit Safety Standards and Performance, this includes OHSMS Internal Audit schedule.\nPromoting safety culture with contractors and others.\nTraining and Development as required.\nWorks with Safety Advisors and team members to ensure that a high safety management structure and organisation is in place and operating as needed.\nProvides regular reporting and KPI on safety performance with Staff & Contractors.\nParticipate and interface with Safe and Sound teams.\nKnowledge and Qualifications\nEssential\nMinimum 5 years relevant work experience.\nAdvanced Level 6 Electrical Craft Certificate/A suitable Level 7 or higher qualification in Electrical, Electrical Services, Electronics, Mechanical or other suitable alternative qualification with a sizeable electrical theory content\nFull driving licence \nExperience and Knowledge of Distribution Assets, particularly at MV/LV/Stations and associated Standards. \nExperience and Knowledge of Electrical Safety Rules.\nUnderstands and applies the relevant Quality Management Standards. \nAssessment of Risk and Application of appropriate controls.\nDesirable\nKnowledge of Microsoft Offices applications. \nFamiliar with ESB Safety Systems & Processes, SHIELD, Auditing, OHSAS/ISO 45001 etc.\nKnowledge of LV, MV, HV network operations under normal and under fault conditions.\nKnowledge of Safety Legislation.\nKnowledge of Contract Management Procedures.\nLocation\nThis position is a national role and therefore, the base location is flexible within the South-East Region.
