The Year-Level Leader (YLL) supports the development of every student by leading the optimisation of all learning, teaching, and wellbeing practices across the year level. The YLL is a pedagogical leader, an exemplary classroom practitioner, and experienced in the Primary Years Programme (PYP). The YLL embraces learning diversity, modeling, advocating for, and nurturing high expectations for learning amongst students across the year level as well as their teaching team. Outside of teaching their own class, they lead and collaborate with a team of six educators (including themselves) and between 2-6 educational assistants. The teaching team also periodically collaborates with single-subject specialists.\nYear-level leaders are an integral part of the extended leadership team at Renaissance College, working closely with the Head of Primary (HoP), Vice Principals (VPs), Head of the Primary Learning Enhancement Team (LET) & Head of Chinese (Primary) to live our vision, mission and Bedrock Principles.\nSpecific responsibilities include the following:\n1. College-wide:\nPromote and use the College-wide vision & mission, goals, strategies, actions, policies, and procedures.\n2. Learning and teaching - curriculum:\nExemplify leading learning and teaching practices as reflected in children’s development and the Primary Years Programme, nurturing educators within the team to use leading teaching practices;\nUse student data to analyse, evaluate, and develop all learning and teaching practices in consultation with the VPs;\nCommunicate and liaise with the VPs, specialist teachers, the year-level Learning Enhancement Team (LET) teacher, and Learning Information Resource Centre (LIRC) regarding curriculum planning and implementation;\nUsing the College-wide strategic plan, establish goals and priorities for the year level; \nAssist with specific year-level tasks or initiatives where appropriate e.g. Years 6-7 transition, Y1 transition, and test and residential trips administration.\n\n3. Staff:\nNurture the development of year-level team members using mentoring or coaching methods; \nInduct new staff into the team; \nIdentify staffing needs within teams in consultation with the HoP and VPs;\nIdentify professional development needs within teams in consultation with the HoP and VPs\nLiaise with parents as needed;\nRecommend the need for a teacher Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) to the HoP.\n\n4. Leadership, Management, and Administration:\nLead year-level meetings; \nCollaboratively create agendas and facilitate the recording and sharing of meeting minutes;\nRepresent both the year-level team and Primary Leadership Team 13 (PLT 13); \nLead professional development sessions within the year level; \nActively participate in PLT 13 meetings;\nManage the year-level budget and resources;\nCoordinate events and field trips in accordance with College policies and procedures;\nCoordinate the publication of year-level information for parents;\nManage cover work for year-level colleagues on extended leave; \nOversee and facilitate the class placement process;\nArrange and lead Parent University sessions as needed;\nDelegate leadership responsibility within the team as needed;\nIdentify CapEx and Technology budget items;\nInitiate meetings with cross-College leaders to facilitate curriculum articulation.\n5. Students:\nDevelop an awareness of students’ academic and wellbeing needs across the year level;\nLiaise and communicate with VPs on child safeguarding and protection issues;\nLiaise with the Primary LET Leader to celebrate and act on learning diversity for all students;\nSupport the writing and completion of year-level reports;\nLead student meetings as needed;\nKeep team members apprised of important student issues.\nThe YLL is expected to carry out additional duties that may be reasonably and occasionally assigned by the HoP.\nThe Year-Level Leader is expected to have the following skills, capabilities, knowledge, and experience:\nSkills and Capabilities:\nInterpersonal and communication skills; \nLeadership and collaboration skills; \nManagement and organizational skills; \nA high level of motivation; \nThe ability to take initiative, self-direct, and exercise sound professional judgment; \nAnalytical and problem-solving skills. \nIn-depth knowledge of:\nLeading learning and teaching practices to support students and educators in an environment that caters to learning diversity;\nPlanning, collaboration, and team-building processes;\nResearch-based assessment practices for, as, and of learning;\nThe Primary Years Programme (PYP).\nExperience:\nPrevious leadership experience, including cognitive/instructional coaching; \nTeaching the IB-PYP required; \nEarly years experience an asset;\nAs a primary practitioner.\nEducational Requirements & Qualifications:\nBachelor’s Degree in Education, or a Bachelor’s Degree in other fields with PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), or equivalent.\nFor enquiries, please contact Alice Har for Teaching roles and Clement Tam for Support Staff and Educational Assistant roles @ 35563556 or Email:\n/ \nApplications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and offers may be extended prior to the job closing date.
