We are building a highly-advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) space system that will fundamentally change the design, economics, manufacturing and service delivery associated with traditional satellite and terrestrial IoT systems.\nWe're intentional, we're unapologetically curious and we're 100% committed to innovate space-based communications and deliver actionable intelligence that will expand global economies, protect space and our planet and enhance our overall quality of life.\nThe E-Space Manufacturing team builds the world's most advanced aerospace products at high rate and high precision.\nWhat you'll be doing:\nOwn new product introduction and build production processes for optical communication assemblies from first concept, developing new process flows rather than sustaining an existing line\nDesign and implement development and production test procedures for optical communication assemblies, and own the reliability numbers those procedures produce\nDirect manufacturers and suppliers on process improvements that raise optical system reliability, and own the outcome of those changes\nDrive corrective actions and process improvements on owned processes and products, and stand behind the fix\nLead root cause investigations on non-conforming hardware and own the reliability improvements that come out of them\nNegotiate and own manufacturability and reliability feedback directly with design teams, closing the loop between design intent and what actually builds\nIdentify trends across production data and decide where to optimize output, quality, and cost of manufacturability\nCollaborate with optical, electromechanical, and supply chain partners to keep process changes aligned across the program\nStep into adjacent electromechanical or supplier quality engineering work whenever the program needs it, since at this size no discipline stays fully siloed\nWhat you will bring to this role:\nA working grasp of mechanical or optical engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline, applied to a real hardware program\n2+ years owning mechanical or electromechanical design, analysis, testing, or manufacturing work, including internships, co-ops, or club projects you can point to today\n3+ years hands-on building optical system assemblies, with specific parts you took from design into production\nOwned the assembly of free space optics including lenses, prisms, and mirrors, and can describe your calls on insertion loss, return loss, coatings, optical bonding, optics cleaning, or optical alignment\nBuilt, aligned, and maintained a free space optical test setup that you can name and describe\nOwned a process in a high volume production environment (consumer goods, automotive, or similar) from qualification through steady state output\nOwned environmental testing of an optical assembly and the resulting data\nApplied statistical process control to a real production line and can describe the decisions it drove\nDelivered hardware end to end in a fast paced, cross functional environment, and can point to what shipped and what your rolewas\nBonus Points:\nDesigned tooling for high volume manufacturing that is running in production today\nBuilt and deployed automation into a production process, and can describe what changed\nIntegrated electromechanical assemblies across both manual and automated production lines\nOwned a supplier or contract manufacturer relationship and drove it to a defined performance bar\nUsed SolidWorks and Duro, or another CAD or PLM system, to own a design or configuration record\nDefined requirements for an ERP, MRP, or MES system that a team still uses\nChallenged your own assumption or a stated requirement on a real design\nPut in extended hours or weekends when a real mission deadline called for it on a past program, and can describe what was on the line\nAdditional Requirements\nThis is a fast-paced, high-impact environment -
