You will work across cloud services, APIs, data pipelines, fleet management, and real-time device communications.\nThis is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys building production systems, solving practical problems, and working closely with embedded, hardware, frontend, and product teams.\nWhat you will do:\nBackend Development\nBuild, maintain, and improve Python/FastAPI backend services, REST APIs, and WebSocket endpoints.\n\nDevelop features for device provisioning, fleet management, telemetry, events, device status, firmware management, and OTA updates.\n\nDesign and maintain PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, indexes, queries, and data-retention strategies.\n\nBuild and improve data-ingestion services using AWS IoT Core, MQTT, Lambda, RDS, Redis, and S3.\n\nWork with infrastructure-as-code and deployment tooling to maintain cloud infrastructure.\n\nQuality and Reliability\nWrite unit, integration, and end-to-end tests alongside feature development.\n\nInvestigate and resolve production issues across APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, and device integrations.\n\nImprove the reliability of telemetry ingestion through appropriate retries, idempotency, monitoring, and error handling.\n\nParticipate in code reviews and contribute to clear, maintainable engineering practices.\n\nHelp improve CI/CD, logging, metrics, and operational documentation.\n\nCollaboration\nWork closely with embedded, hardware, frontend, and product teams to deliver end-to-end features.\n\nParticipate in technical design discussions and communicate implementation tradeoffs clearly.\n\nShare knowledge and help establish sensible backend patterns as the team and platform grow.\n\nWhat we are looking for:\nRequired\n5+ years of backend software development experience in production systems.\n\nStrong Python experience and hands-on experience with FastAPI, Django, Flask, or comparable backend frameworks.\n\nStrong knowledge of PostgreSQL, SQL, schema design, migrations, query optimization, and data lifecycle management.\n\nExperience with AWS services-or comparable cloud platforms-with hands-on AWS experience preferred, especially EC2, Lambda, S3, Cognito, and infrastructure-as-code.\n\nExperience with MQTT, WebSockets, message-driven architecture, or real-time data delivery.\n\nExperience designing and building REST APIs.\n\nStrong automated-testing skills, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.\n\nExperience with Git workflows, CI/CD, code review, and production deployment practices.\n\nClear communicator who can work effectively across engineering disciplines.\n\nExperience with Linux.\n\nNice to Have\nExperience building cloud-connected IoT, device-management, telemetry, or other event-driven systems.\n\nExperience with AWS IoT Core, IoT Jobs, Device Shadows, or IoT fleet provisioning.\n\nExperience building firmware OTA, device telemetry, or fleet-management platforms.\n\nExperience with Redis, RDS Proxy, queues, stream processing, or event-driven architectures.\n\nExperience with AWS CDK, Terraform, or other infrastructure-as-code tools.\n\nFamiliarity with embedded systems, wireless communications, or sensor-rich hardware.\n\nExperience with security-focused systems, audit logging, or operational compliance.\n\nExperience in aerospace, satellite, industrial IoT, or other mission-critical environments.\n\nAdditional Requirements\nThis is a fast-paced, high-impact environment -
