Join us in making a real difference in the health of our community.\nJob Summary\nPosition title: Product Engineer\nJob Summary: We're hiring a Product Engineer to join our founding engineering team. Where our Software Engineers take well-scoped tickets and ship them, you'll work closer to the problem. You'll take a loosely defined need, e.g.\"care managers need a better way to see which patients are falling behind on their care plan, and own the feature from discovery to development to launch. You'll work directly with the product team and our designer to shape features and how users interact with the platform.\nThis role requires product judgment as much as engineering skill. You'll make tradeoff calls in the moment: what's good enough for v1, what edge case actually matters, what's going to confuse a care coordinator vs. what's going to save them 20 minutes a day. You need to be comfortable making those calls and moving, then adjusting based on what you see.\nResponsibilities\nResponsibilities\nYou will manage the data layer and intelligence layer of ecares, including:\nPatient, provider, scheduling, and care coordination data\nOperational performance metrics\nProduct analytics for new features\nPredictive models for access, utilization, and outcomes\nData pipelines and experimentation frameworks\nYour work will directly influence:\nHow patients are scheduled\nHow providers are utilized\nHow care teams coordinate\nHow product features are designed\n What You’ll Do\nYou will:\nBuild and manage data pipelines connecting:eClinicalWorks (eCW)\necares health\nOperational systems\n\nDesign data models that reflect real healthcare workflows\nCreate prototypes, simulations, and experiments to test:Scheduling efficiency\nNo-show reduction\nCare coordination outcomes\n\nPartner with:Product owners\nSoftware engineers\nOperations and clinical leaders\n\nDefine and track KPIs that matter in healthcare:Access\nThroughput\nOutcomes\nUtilization\n\nHelp decide what features should be built based on data\nDesign analytics that are embedded directly into the product\nYou will operate as both a data engineer and a product & operations consultant.\nQualifications\nWhat we’re looking for\n3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with meaningful experience building user-facing products\nStrong frontend skills and enough backend to be self-sufficient\nProduct instinct. You can look at a workflow, identify what's broken, and propose a solution that's practical and buildable. You don't need a detailed spec to get started.\nGood design sense. You care about how things look and feel, not just whether they work. You can partner with a designer effectively and fill in the gaps on your own when needed.\nComfortable with ambiguity. You'll often start with a problem, not a solution. You ask the right questions, make reasonable assumptions, and course-correct as you learn.\nOur stack: Python (FastAPI), React/TypeScript, MSSQL, Redis, Azure (Container Apps, Static Web Apps, DevOps Pipelines), Terraform.\nNice to have\nHealth tech or healthcare experience\nExperience with HER systems or healthcare data\nExperience working directly with end users to understand workflows and iterate on solutions\nBackground in design, UX research, or working closely with design teams\nBackground working with underserved communities or in mission-driven organizations\nLocation\nBased in the Bronx, co-located with Essen Health Care. We sit next to the care coordinators, clinicians, and operators who use the platform every day and work in a community that we serve.
