Together, we provide operational excellence to eyecare professionals with an aim to be the leading eye care provider in our community.\nJOB DESCRIPTION\nGENERAL FUNCTION\nThe Optometric Technician at Target Optical creates exceptional value in the lives of patients by delivering exceptional patient service and ensuring all patients receive the highest quality of care. Enthusiastically satisfies patients all the time through exceptional service.\nMAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nGreets guests without delay when they enter the Shows urgency in providing service to guests and satisfying their needs.\nDetermines the reason for the guest's visit; in store explains how to shop at Target Optical; in Doctor’s office explains all required paperwork, tests, products and services as well as the appropriate time frame.\nIs attentive to details; reviews prescriptions and/or patient information carefully; identifies special needs, consulting with Opticians, Doctor or Retail Management when necessary.\nShows patience and courtesy to indecisive or difficult guests and patients.\nPerforms work accurately and thoroughly despite time pressure and guest volume. Identifies situations involving unsatisfied guests and acts quickly for resolution.\nDemonstrates knowledge of appointment book/scheduling procedures and computer operation/procedures.\nHandles and files all patient records in an organized and efficient manner.\nPlaces contact lens orders, processes shipments and properly submits invoices for payment.\nAccurately operates the POS system, when required, collecting proper payment following\nTakes pride in the appearance of the store and shows initiative in keeping the displays clean, attractive and organized.\nInforms management of potential safety opportunities.\nDemonstrates safe work practices.\nComplies with all safety/regulatory requirements ensuring supplies/chemicals are stored and used appropriately.\nPerforms all pre-examination testing with accuracy and attention to detail; takes the initiative to explain all measurements and answers any questions the patient may have.\nUtilizes clinical and product knowledge, provides coaching and guidance to patients on the care and handling of contact lenses.\nMaintains and disinfects contact lens inventory; provides clinical support to the Optometrist as needed.\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS\nMinimum of one-year strong guest service skills (internal/external)\nHigh School Graduate /GED or equivalent experience\nStrong communicator and listener to guests and associates.\nStrong basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)\nStrong interpersonal skills (friendly, caring, patient)\nSales skills\nKnowledge of store merchandise\nFamiliarity with cash register, computers and calculators\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nPrevious experience in guest service, retail or optical\nThis posting is for an existing vacancy within our business.
