We also supply coatings, inks, inserts and other innovative products to customers throughout the world.\nOur team members bring our mission to life each and every day by helping people see a brighter world.\nJOB DESCRIPTION\nGENERAL FUNCTION\nThe Sr. Automation Engineer plays an integral strategic role in shaping the future of eyewear assembly automation, & leads and/or is involved in multiple phases of projects including planning, detailed design, construction, commissioning and release.\nMAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nLead design for medium-large projects that support new product or technology introductions by performing engineering assessments, implementing automation system configuration changes & supporting engineering runs\nDevise new approaches to problems through adaptations/modifications of automation technical principles\nWork with multiple disciplines, including manufacturing, process engineering, maintenance, & quality assurance to manage portfolio of projects\nDiagnose/troubleshoot equipment issues\nDirect/mentor junior automation staff engineers & technicians\nCreate automation & machine design requirements including 3D drawing design, wiring, programming, safety features, & sourcing\nDetail control schemes with wiring and system drawings for automation projects\nDesign PLC/HMI/Robotics (programming & creation of technical documents such as user requirements, functional specifications, & design specifications)\nTroubleshoot & diagnose design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies; proactively recommend revisions and/or improvements\nHelp manufacturing departments succeed through easy-to-use tooling, monitoring, and automation that improve safety, quality, productivity, delivery & cost\nEngage in project planning to identify automation opportunities\nPrepare cost estimates and written technical proposals\nGenerate network communication protocols for control equipment\nDevelop mechanical/electronic controls integrating assembly stations, 6 axis handling devices & conveyance devices\nDocument equipment requirements that verify & validate performance, with instructions for operation, maintenance & repair\nImprove standards for assembly by working with engineering professionals to promote defect-free processes\nInteract cross functionally from concept through test runs through released manufacturing process\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS\nBS Degree in Engineering with 7+ years’ experience\nExperience in high volume production, with emphasis on ergonomic design, yield improvement, labor & cost reduction\nExperience with electromechanical systems & automating assembly processes\nProficient in PLC programming (Ladder Logic and Structured Text) & HMI development\n6-Axis robotics programming/integration experience\nExcellent conceptual, analytical, & problem-solving abilities\nAbility to coordinate & complete multiple tasks under minimal supervision\nStrong verbal & written communication skills\nUnderstanding of Sensors, Robotics, Complex Mechanical designs & controls for automated systems\nProficiency in 3D CAD modeling (SOLIDWORKS preferred)\nStrong project management skills with ability to create technical documentation\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nExperience with Collaborative Robots (YuMi) and/or Denso or Fanuc Robots\nExperience in the Consumer Eyewear Industry\nLean Six Sigma and/or SPC Training\nKnowledge of Cognex, PPT, DVT, or Fanuc Vision systems\nPay Range: 109,230.00 - 152,546.90\nThis posting is for an existing vacancy within our business.
