If you share that passion - and want to be part of a company that leads the energy transition towards a cleaner and more resilient world for future generations - we invite you to join us!\nETAP is committed to creating a diverse work environment and is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.\nETAP is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with knowledge of modeling, control, and optimization of renewable power plants, microgrids, and inverter-based resources, along with a strong interest in designing and developing advanced software applications in this area.\nOur Control R&D division develops leading-edge applications and solves challenging problems related to renewable energy integration, microgrid operation, power plant control, energy management, optimization, and real-time power system simulation.\nDuties and Responsibilities\nResearch, design, develop specifications for, implement, and test software applications related to the modeling, control, optimization, and energy management of renewable energy systems.\nPerform advanced power system studies related to renewable energy integration, microgrids, inverter-based resources, and renewable power plants.\nDevelop and evaluate optimization algorithms for applications such as economic dispatch, power management, generation scheduling, and optimal operation of distributed energy resources.\nSupport development and validation of control algorithms for renewable power plants and microgrids.\nPerform simulation and testing using offline and real-time power system simulation platforms.\nCollaborate with software engineers and power system engineers to translate engineering requirements into robust software solutions.\nSupport model validation, controller testing, and hardware-in-the-loop or real-time simulation activities.\nQualifications\nExperience in modeling and analysis of renewable power plants, inverter-based resources, grid-connected systems, and microgrids.\nKnowledge of power system control, dynamics, and optimization.\nKnowledge of optimization methods and applications such as economic dispatch, optimal power flow, generation scheduling, or energy management systems.\nExperience or familiarity with power system simulation tools such as ETAP, PSCAD, or similar platforms.\nExperience or familiarity with real-time simulation platforms such as OPAL-RT is desirable.\nFamiliarity with Docker, containerization, and deployment of engineering or simulation applications in containerized environments.\nBasic knowledge of programming and scientific computing, preferably using Python, C#, or similar languages.\nStrong capabilities in research, system design, testing, and technical problem solving.\nAbility to understand industrial standards, grid codes, and technical requirements and translate them into engineering or software specifications.\nHighly motivated, self-managed, detail-oriented, and well-organized.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nExperience with renewable plant controllers, microgrid controllers, energy management systems, or real-time control applications is desirable.\nEducation\nMSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.\n0-5 years of relevant experience.\nLocation: Irvine, CA, USA\nETAP requires all successful applicants to undergo and pass a comprehensive background check before they start employment.
