The role involves system engineering, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, integration, testing, commissioning, and customer support.\nThe selected candidate will initially be deployed at Bokaro Steel Limited (BSL) for SCADA and RTU Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) activities. Based on business requirements, the engineer may subsequently support other AMC sites and SCADA/automation projects across India or other locations.\nKey Responsibilities\nMaintain and troubleshoot SCADA servers, applications, databases, workstations, ABB RTUs, and associated infrastructure.\nConfigure, test, and troubleshoot RTU/PLC communication with IEDs, numerical relays, meters, and field devices.\nDiagnose communication failures, missing or stale data, alarms, events, and DI/DO/command/AI signal issues.\nWork with IEC 60870-5-104, Modbus TCP/IP, and other relevant substation communication protocols.\nMaintain industrial Ethernet networks, managed Layer 2/Layer 3 switches, routers, VLANs, and related OT connectivity.\nPerform SCADA database configuration, tag mapping, HMI/SLD updates, system integration, and feeder/substation integration.\nSupport installation, testing, commissioning, FAT/SAT, and troubleshooting of SCADA/DMS/ADMS and automation systems.\nMaintain configuration backups, conduct preventive maintenance, and implement approved software and configuration changes.\nPrepare maintenance reports, technical documentation, test procedures, configuration logs, and root cause analysis (RCA) reports.\nCoordinate with customers, internal engineering teams, site managers, and OEMs to resolve technical issues.\nEssential Skills and Qualifications\nDiploma or bachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronics and Communication, Instrumentation, Automation, Computer Science, or Information Technology Engineering.\nRelevant experience in SCADA, RTU/PLC, industrial automation, or power system automation.\nWorking knowledge of RTU/PLC systems, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus TCP/IP, TCP/IP networking, and managed Ethernet switches.\nUnderstanding of SCADA databases, signal configuration, Windows Server, and system backup procedures.\nBasic understanding of electrical substations, power systems, protection relays, and field communication.\nGood troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and customer communication skills.\nPreferred Skills\nExperience with SCADA/DMS/ADMS projects, commissioning, and substation automation.\nKnowledge of IEC 60870-5-101, IEC 61850, OPC, SQL/MongoDB, and historian systems.\nFamiliarity with Python, C#, PowerShell, Wireshark, VLANs, and industrial network security.\nKnowledge of NMS, SAN/storage, fibre-optic communication, and GPS/NTP time synchronization.\nCCNA or other relevant technical certifications will be an advantage.\nOther Requirements\nWillingness to work initially at BSL, Bokaro, and travel to other customer sites as required.\nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision while following site lead instructions.\nFlexibility to support commissioning, planned maintenance, and critical breakdowns outside normal working hours when required.\nCareer Opportunity\nThe role offers exposure to SCADA maintenance, power automation, system integration, engineering, testing, and commissioning, enabling long-term technical growth within ETAP.\nETAP requires all successful applicants to undergo and pass a comprehensive background check before they start employment.
