This role focuses on developing and optimizing compute architectures that deliver exceptional performance and efficiency for inference workloads. You will work on cutting-edge architectural problems and performance modeling with deep cross-functional collaboration to bring innovative chip designs from concept to silicon.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign and analyze chip architectures optimized for AI/ML workloads, with focus on throughput, latency, and power efficiency\n\nContribute to power and area estimation methodologies for early-stage, next generation architectural exploration\n\nCreate architectural specifications and interface definitions for compute blocks and subsystems\n\nCollaborate with RTL, verification, physical design, and software teams to ensure architectural feasibility and ultimate optimization\n\nConduct architectural experiments using cycle-accurate simulators and analytical models\n\nSupport integration efforts by providing architectural guidance and resolving design challenges\n\nYou may be a good fit if you have\nPhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field\n\n5+ years of experience in computer architecture, ASIC design, or related fields\n\nStrong understanding of computer architecture fundamentals including pipelines, memory hierarchies, and interconnects\n\nExperience with performance modeling and architectural simulation tools\n\nHands-on experience designing and optimizing floating-point datapaths or arithmetic-intensive circuits and working with advanced process nodes.\n\nProficiency in Rust, C/C++, or Python for modeling and analysis\n\nKnowledge of modern processor microarchitecture and design tradeoffs\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail\n\nExcellent communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams\n\nStrong candidates may also have experience with\nAI/ML accelerator architectures and dataflow optimization\n\nRTL design and verification (Verilog/SystemVerilog)\n\nCycle-accurate simulation tools (gem5, SystemC, or custom simulators)\n\nPower and performance analysis methodologies\n\nASIC design flow and physical design constraints\n\nPublishing or presenting at architecture conferences (ISCA, MICRO, HPCA, etc.)\n\nHands-on experience with tapeout and silicon bring-up\n\nBenefits\nMedical, dental, and vision packages with generous premium coverage\n$500 per month credit for waiving medical benefits\n\nHousing subsidy of $2.5k per month for those living within walking distance of the office\n\nRelocation support for those moving to San Jose (Santana Row)\n\nVarious wellness benefits covering fitness, mental health, and more\n\nDaily lunch + dinner in our office\n\nUnlimited compute budget subject to ROI justification\n\nHow we’re different\nEtched believes in the Bitter Lesson.
