As part of our strategy for continued growth, Ethos and Hanley Pepper are now recruiting for global expansion.\nAbout the Job\nThis is a full-time, Dublin-based hybrid role, with three days per week in the office. As Senior Project Engineer - Civil / Infrastructure, you will lead coordinated civil engineering delivery across substantial or complex project packages. This is an engineering management and delivery leadership role: you will lead projects, manage client and architect relationships, attend meetings and carry out design calculations, while remaining accountable for technical outcomes, programme commitments, quality and effective delivery through others within an agreed project scope. The role supports a portfolio of complex buildings and infrastructure projects, including data centres.\nReporting to senior management, you will lead complex packages and coordinated workstreams involving multiple contributors, with a direct effect on delivery quality, programme, technical risk and team performance. You will make material technical and delivery decisions within delegated authority, escalating strategic or commercial commitments, while building team capability, improving methods and supporting reliable delivery across projects.\nResponsibilities:\nLead planning and delivery of complex civil design packages across 2-3 projects at once, coordinating priorities, resources and interfaces with other disciplines.\n\nDirect and review work undertaken by engineers and technicians, ensuring appropriate checking, technical quality and timely issue of deliverables.\n\nCarry out design calculations to deliver the civil aspects of projects, applying detailed knowledge of storm water management and SUDS requirements, which is critical to the design, including hydrology design using Causeway Flow or equivalent.\n\nApply good knowledge of geotechnical requirements, calculate mass haul requirements using CADS 3D software and apply a general understanding of topography.\n\nResolve complex design and coordination challenges, exercise independent technical judgement within delegated authority and escalate material risks or decisions.\n\nManage delivery against agreed scope, programme and quality expectations, identifying emerging changes and supporting commercial awareness and change control.\n\nManage client and architect relationships and engage with design partners and project stakeholders on technical and delivery matters, attending meetings, presenting updates and deliverables and communicating decisions and actions clearly.\n\nReport on project progress to management.\n\nVisit sites throughout Europe and monitor progress and quality of works.\n\nApply proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D to develop, modify and manage civil engineering design models, drawings and documentation in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.\n\nCoach developing engineers, share good practice and contribute to consistent technical and digital delivery standards.\n\nChampion safe design, regulatory compliance and robust quality assurance processes.\n\nAbout You\nA Chartered civil engineer with substantial design-delivery experience, ready to lead coordinated delivery across complex project packages.\n\nAn accountable delivery lead who exercises independent judgement, manages technical risk and delivers through others.\n\nA confident communicator who manages client and architect relationships, engages design partners and stakeholders and supports the development of engineers and technicians.\n\nBased in Dublin and able to work in the office three days per week, or willing to relocate to Dublin.\n\nHolds unrestricted travel rights within the Schengen area.\n\nExperience & Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional qualification.\n\nChartered Engineer status (Engineers Ireland, ICE or equivalent) is required.\n\nAt least 7 years’ experience in designing and delivering civil aspects of engineering projects.\n\nIrish or UK project experience, with knowledge of local standards and practices.\n\nDemonstrated accountability for coordinating and delivering complex design packages, including work delivered through others.\n\nExperience guiding engineers or technicians, planning work and resolving delivery constraints.\n\nExperience on data centre projects is a plus; experience on complex buildings or infrastructure projects is an acceptable alternative.\n\nExperience in international projects is a plus.\n\nTechnical Skills\nProficient in Civil Engineering Design and Civil Engineering fundamentals.\n\nGood all-round knowledge of civil design and experience in varied aspects of Civil Engineering, including drainage (including storm water management and SUDS), earthworks, pavement/road design, road alignment, retaining structures and geotechnical aspects.\n\nStrong working knowledge of applicable design codes, quality assurance and multidisciplinary coordination.\n\nManagement of technical risk.\n\nKnowledge of Eurocodes and their European national annexes is advantageous.\n\nEssential software: Civil 3D (site, road and drainage design); Causeway Flow for drainage network design, or equivalent (e.g. InfoDrainage, MicroDrainage); CADS 3D (mass haul calculations); Bluebeam Revu (drawing review and markups); Microsoft 365.\n\nDesirable software: AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks (model coordination).\n\nSoft Skills\nIndependent judgement.\n\nStrong project management and problem-solving skills.\n\nExcellent communication and teamwork abilities, including effective client and project communication.\n\nWhy Join Us?\nJoin collaborative leaders -
