You will work closely with electrical, mechanical, BIM, commissioning and project delivery teams to develop technically robust solutions that comply with international standards and meet demanding client requirements.\nWe are looking for Power Systems Engineers who want to advance their technical expertise and delivering innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges for clients worldwide. This opportunity is ideally suited to adaptable, and technically ambitious engineer seeking to develop into a recognised industry expert and trusted consulting specialist within a forward-thinking, dynamic, and innovative electrical engineering consultancy.\nResponsibilities:\nDevelop detailed ETAP models for complex electrical distribution networks.\nSupport the design of resilient MV and LV distribution systems for mission-critical facilities.\nProduce detailed engineering calculations and technical reports.\nReview protection settings and coordinate relay philosophies.\nReview vendor ETAP models and manufacturer data for technical compliance.\nValidate electrical equipment ratings against calculated system duties.\nContribute to QA processes by reviewing technical calculations, reports and design deliverables.\nIdentify opportunities to improve design efficiency through standardisation and digital engineering tools.\nSupport the development of internal ETAP standards, templates and modelling procedures.\nLiaise with clients, utilities, contractors and equipment manufacturers to resolve technical issues throughout project delivery.\nPrepare comprehensive technical and non-technical reports, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and effective communication of key findings and recommendations.\nPerform electrical power system studies including:\nLoad flow analysis\nShort circuit studies\nProtection coordination\nArc flash studies\nHarmonic analysis\nAbility to perform cable sizing calculations in accordance with relevant international standards, including IEC 60502-2 and IEC 60364-5-52.\nDesirable Experience\nExperience with Power System Study software (SKM, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, or similar).\nUnderstanding of grid code requirements and utility connection processes (This would be an advantage but is not essential).\nExperience performing electrical calculations and developing designs in accordance with relevant IEC standards.\nExperience with Power quality and harmonic analysis would be favourable.\nExperience in protection system design, settings development and coordination studies, with exposure to transformer and bus differential protection, REF and directional protection schemes.\nProven application of protection coordination studies.\nAbout You\nExperience & Qualifications\nDegree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or a related discipline.\n\n1+ years' experience in electrical or power systems engineering within a building services consultancy, engineering consultancy or industrial environment.\n\nExperience delivering projects within data centres, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, healthcare, industrial or other mission-critical facilities is highly desirable.\n\nGood understanding of European and UK electrical standards including IEC, BS, IS and EN standards.\n\nStrong knowledge of electrical distribution systems from HV through MV and LV.\n\nPower Systems & ETAP Experience\nExperience using ETAP (or equivalent software such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory or SKM) for:\nDevelopment of complete electrical network models.\nLoad flow analysis.\nIEC 60909 short circuit studies.\nProtection coordination and selectivity studies.\nTime-current coordination (TCC) development.\nArc flash hazard analysis.\nHarmonic analysis.\nPower quality assessments.\nDesirable: Transient and dynamic system studies.\nEquipment duty verification.\nCable ampacity and derating studies.\nExperience creating and maintaining ETAP digital models throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with design revisions and as-built information, would be highly advantageous.\nTechnical Skills\nExperience designing or reviewing:\nHV, MV and LV distribution systems.\nPrimary and secondary substations.\nTransformers.\nSwitchgear.\nBusbar systems.\nStandby generators.\nUPS systems (static and rotary).\nBattery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) (desirable).\nDC power systems.\nEmergency power systems.\nEarthing and bonding systems.\nLightning protection systems.\nGenerator synchronisation and load sharing.\nAutomatic Transfer Switches (ATS).\nStatic Transfer Switches (STS).\nUnderstanding of:\nDesirable: Data centre power resilience architectures (N, N+1, 2N, 2(N+1), Distributed Redundant).\nUtility grid connections.\nFault level management.\nCritical power infrastructure.\nOperational resilience principles.\nEnergy efficiency and power system optimisation.\nSoftware\nExperience with:\nETAP\nAutoCAD.\nRevit.\nMicrosoft Office.\nFamiliarity with BIM workflows.\nKnowledge of Python, MATLAB or scripting for engineering automation would be advantageous.\nWhy Join Us?\nJoin collaborative leaders -
