Our team develops custom machine-learning models that can drive product vision and customer impact. We’re a cross-functional group of engineers, machine learning scientists, and product managers, and we interface with a diverse set of staff, ranging from data scientists, designers, product facing engineers, managers, and more! As an engineer on our team, you will play a major role in improving the shopping experience for millions of Etsy buyers and the selling experience for millions of etsy sellers. We are looking for individuals who are product and delivery-driven, and are passionate about using modern ML solutions to help sellers create Etsy’s high-quality and diverse inventory.\nThis is a fantastic opportunity for someone interested in building state-of-the-art ML systems for a two-sided marketplace with 90+ million buyers, 6+ million sellers, and hundreds of millions of unique, handmade, vintage listings.\nThis is a full time role reporting to the Engineering Manager.\nWhat’s this team like at Etsy?\nHere’s a taste of the problems we’re solving:\nEtsy Product Experience\nHow can we help our sellers improve their listings, including titles, descriptions, and images?\nHow can we use reviews to quickly identify when product issues arise?\nHow can we enhance the onboarding process for new sellers regarding listing best practices?\nHow can we integrate this new understanding into delivering meaningful improvements to our product experience?\nWhat does the day-to-day look like?\nLead the creation of engineering plans to address challenging problems by breaking down complex tasks into manageable components, and identifying/estimating milestones.\nMentor junior team members to help them produce high-quality code and machine learning solutions.\nCollaborate with engineering teams to share ideas and discuss model capabilities with product managers.\nImplement the latest advancements in machine learning to enhance buyer and seller experiences on Etsy.\nDevelop, optimize, and deploy large-scale machine learning models to achieve key outcomes.\nRun A/B tests to evaluate the effectiveness of machine learning powered products.\nPartner with product managers, ML engineers, full-stack engineers, and designers to deliver content to millions of users.\nThis is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! Base salary is determined by your location, skills, and experience.\nEtsy uses two geographic pay zones to reflect the labor markets where we compete for talent: one called Geo-1, covering the New York City metropolitan area, San Francisco Bay Area, and Seattle metropolitan area, and one called Geo-2, covering all other U.S. locations. Salary ranges for this role vary by zone and are listed below.\nLocation\nWe prioritize candidates based within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office.
