Euromonitor International is a leading global provider of strategic market research, business intelligence, and data analytics. The company specializes in delivering comprehensive industry reports, consumer insights, and economic forecasts to help organizations identify growth opportunities and inform strategic decision-making. Headquartered in London, United Kingdom, the firm operates an extensive international network of offices and analysts covering hundreds of markets worldwide.

Euromonitor International is the world’s leading independent market research company, providing strategic and tactical insight into products, services, industries and consumers around the world. We are a global organisation that values integrity, curiosity, collaboration, empowerment and diversity.

This role offers exposure to a fast-paced international business, opportunities for learning and development, and the chance to contribute to a Finance function focused on improving processes, strengthening controls and supporting the wider business.

Purpose of the role

The Cash & Banking Executive will sit within the Cape Town Finance Centre of Excellence and report to the Accounts Payable and Cashbook Manager. The role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day cashbook, banking and payment activities for Euromonitor’s global offices, ensuring transactions are processed accurately, payments are made on time, bank accounts are reconciled, and finance records are complete and audit-ready.

The successful candidate will work closely with Accounts Payable, Credit Control, Sales Order Processing, Management Accounts and wider Finance colleagues to ensure supplier and staff payments, incoming receipts, bank postings and month-end processes are completed in line with agreed procedures and internal controls. This is a detail-focused operational role requiring strong organisation, accuracy, good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.

Key accountabilities

Payments and cashbook processing

  • Work closely with the Accounts Payable team and global Finance colleagues to ensure supplier, staff and other approved payments are processed accurately and on time.
  • Prepare and process daily, weekly and ad hoc payments using online banking platforms, ensuring all payment requests are appropriately approved and supported.
  • Post incoming and outgoing bank transactions accurately in the accounting system, using agreed coding and posting standards.
  • Ensure payment and cashbook activities are completed in accordance with operational timetables, approval guidelines and internal controls.

Bank reconciliations and transaction management

  • Perform regular reconciliations of multi-currency bank accounts, ensuring reconciling items are investigated and resolved promptly.
  • Identify, investigate and allocate incoming receipts, including customer receipts, web receipts and other debtor payments.
  • Work with Credit Control, Sales Order Processing and Management Accounts colleagues to resolve unidentified cash, allocation queries and coding issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of bank transactions, reconciliations and supporting documentation to support audit and reporting requirements.

Credit cards, petty cash and expense-related activity

  • Process and reconcile credit card, petty cash, travel advance and other cash-related transactions where required.
  • Ensure supporting documentation is complete, accurately filed and available for review.
  • Follow agreed procedures for coding, posting and reconciling expense-related transactions.
  • Respond to queries from staff, suppliers and Finance colleagues in a timely and professional manner.

Month-end, controls and reporting

  • Complete cashbook and banking month-end tasks in accordance with the Finance timetable.
  • Prepare or support the posting of journals and reconciliation of relevant control accounts as required.
  • Ensure cashbook processes are performed consistently, accurately and in line with group policies and internal controls.
  • Support audit requests by providing complete and accurate process information, reconciliations and supporting documents.
  • Identify recurring issues, process gaps or opportunities for improvement and raise these with the Accounts Payable and Cashbook Manager.

Requirements

  • Experience in cashbook, banking, accounts payable, finance administration or a similar transactional finance role is desirable.
  • Good understanding of basic accounting principles, including double entry, reconciliations and control accounts.
  • Experience working with multi-currency transactions or in an international finance environment would be advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to process high volumes of data accurately and efficiently.
  • Good organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing tasks.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work professionally with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders across different locations.
  • Intermediate Excel skills are essential; experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 or a similar finance system is desirable.
  • Proactive, flexible and willing to learn, with a positive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while taking ownership of individual responsibilities.

Personal attributes

  • Accurate, organised and deadline-driven.
  • Professional, reliable and accountable.
  • Curious and willing to understand the wider finance process, not just individual tasks.
  • Collaborative and comfortable working with colleagues across countries and teams.
  • Calm under pressure and able to manage routine tasks alongside urgent requests.
  • Committed to maintaining strong controls and high-quality finance records.

Benefits

  • Generous salary
  • Pension
  • Holidays plus bank holidays
  • 40 hours personal development
  • Work from anywhere in the world, up to 15 days a year
  • Flexi working hours
