This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who is comfortable working with complex systems and understands data-driven architectures.\nWhat You'll Do:\nAnalyse, understand, and take ownership of an existing Python-based backend;\nRefactor and enhance backend components with a focus on maintainability and performance;\nImplement and maintain data processing pipelines and integration logic;\nCollaborate closely with data/semantic engineers on RDF/SPARQL-driven workflows;\nContribute to architecture reconstruction and technical documentation;\nSupport deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting activities;\nEnsure code quality through reviews, testing, and best practices.\nRequirements\n3+ years of professional experience in backend development;\nStrong proficiency in Python;\nExperience with:\nApache Airflow and AWS;\nData-intensive or integration-heavy systems;\nAPIs, batch processing, and backend services;\nConfiguration-driven systems (XML / JSON / YAML);\nSolid understanding of:\nSoftware architecture and design patterns;\nDebugging and working with legacy codebases;\nExperience working in complex, multi-stakeholder projects (EU or public-sector projects is a plus).\nNice-to-Have:\nFamiliarity with Semantic Web technologies (RDF, SPARQL, OWL);\nExperience with data modelling or knowledge-based systems;\nExposure to DevOps practices (CI/CD, containerisation);\nExperience contributing to or maintaining technical documentation (e.g. AsciiDoc, Antora).\nBenefits\nWe believe in rewarding talent and dedication.
