Model implementation:

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of physical layer (PHY) models within an in-house end-to-end simulation framework for satellite communication systems.
  • Develop, integrate, and extend PHY layer components such as waveform generation, channel and impairment models, synchronization and tracking algorithms, and control/signalling mechanisms.
  • Adapt and enhance existing models to support new use cases, standards, or system architectures (e.g. GEO/LEO scenarios, forward and return links).

Model validation and analysis:

  • Validate implemented models through simulations, performance analysis, and comparison with theoretical expectations or reference results.
  • Evaluate the impact of PHY layer algorithms and impairments on link-level and system-level performance metrics.
  • Support debugging, testing, and performance optimisation of the simulator.

Documentation:

  • Document implemented models, assumptions, and algorithms to ensure clarity, reproducibility, and long-term maintainability of the simulation tool.
