At Eutelsat, we are committed to supporting your well-being and ensuring you have the flexibility you need to succeed both at work and at home.\nReady to grow with us? Apply today and help us build a more inclusive, sustainable future in the world of satellite technology.\nWe are looking for a senior software engineer to build the Linux platform software of Eutelsat's next generation LEO, multi-orbit and IRIS² user terminals: the layer that wraps the modem and the antenna subsystem, exposes them through clean and stable APIs, integration of higher layer of the User Terminal software stack to ensure tight and seamless interaction between the application functions of the UT and the NAS layer of the software stack for call setup, retry and automated recovery from failures etc. Making the terminal manageable, observable and serviceable in the field. Everything above the physical layer that a terminal needs in order to be operated at scale sits in your scope.\nYou will also bring the insights and know-how on how end-user applications e.g. CBH, vessel engine management, SD-WAN solution etc, interface with the User Terminal and the QoS signaling and traffic management/control on the user plane.\nYou will work alongside our modem and RF architects and with external engineering partners. The terminal is a constrained embedded system with real-time neighbours, so the work spans device level integration, service design and operational tooling: control and telemetry paths, secure update, diagnostics, and the interfaces towards our ground systems and our support organisation.\nThis is a founding role in a capability under construction. The architecture, the tooling and the practices are still to be defined, and what you build will become the software foundation of the terminal portfolio.\nWhat you'll do\nCollaborate across teams to translate product, service and operational requirements into robust technical implementations;\nDesign, develop and maintain the terminal platform software on embedded Linux: system services, device abstraction, inter-process communication, lifecycle and state management, and the boundary towards the modem and antenna subsystems;\nDesign and maintain the terminal APIs: local and remote control interfaces, configuration, telemetry and event streams, versioning and backward compatibility, and the contract they establish with our ground systems and management platforms;\nImplement the control and monitoring paths towards the modem and the antenna manager: command sequencing, state synchronisation, error propagation, and the timing constraints these interfaces impose;\nBuild the observability of the terminal: structured logging, metrics, event and fault reporting, capture of diagnostic data, and the remote access paths our field and Tier-4 support teams depend on;\nOwn secure and reliable software update in the field: image management, roll-back and fail-safe behaviour, integrity and authenticity verification, and recovery from interrupted updates;\nWrite and maintain unit and integration tests, and build the automation that keeps the platform verifiable as it grows;\nParticipate in code reviews, architecture discussions and delivery processes, including joint reviews with external engineering partners;\nAssist in system validation, debugging and troubleshooting of complex issues across the software, firmware and hardware boundary, in the laboratory and on deployed terminals;\nContribute to the board support package and integration work: build system, root filesystem, device drivers and kernel interfaces, boot and resource partitioning on a system on chip shared with real-time functions;\nMentor engineers and promote best practice in software design, testability and maintainability;\nEngage professionally with internal stakeholders, partners and customers to ensure the platform serves the operational reality rather than the specification alone.\nQualifications\nBachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering or a related field;\n10+ years of experience in software development, including embedded or systems software on Linux;\nStrong hands-on experience with C++, including work on embedded systems and mission-critical applications;\nSolid understanding of embedded systems, real-time constraints, concurrency, memory management and software architecture;\nExperience designing and maintaining APIs and service interfaces intended to be consumed by other teams or systems, with attention to versioning and long-term stability;\nComfortable with Linux at system level: init and service management, IPC, sockets and networking, filesystems, permissions, and cross-compilation for embedded targets;\nProficiency with unit testing frameworks and methodologies, and with continuous integration on embedded targets;\nPractical debugging skills across the software and hardware boundary: core dumps, tracing, profiling, and instrumentation of a running system;\nEagerness to learn and work with Rust; existing Rust experience is a plus;\nStrong communication skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively, including with engineers from partner organisations;\nComfortable building a capability rather than inheriting one, with little existing tooling or process to rely on;\nEligibility under applicable European and United States export control regulations;\nFluent professional English.\nNice to have\nExperience with satellite terminals, routers, set-top boxes or other connected customer premises equipment deployed at scale;\nExperience with Yocto or Buildroot, board support packages, kernel and driver work;\nExperience with secure boot, signed images, key management and field update mechanisms;\nExperience with remote management and telemetry at fleet scale, and with the protocols used for it;\nFamiliarity with networking beyond the socket: routing, tunnelling, quality of service, and IP behaviour over a variable satellite link;\nWillingness to contribute occasionally to front-end work, such as local user interfaces, installation tools or diagnostic web applications interacting with the terminal;\nFamiliarity with JavaScript, TypeScript and modern web frameworks such as Vue.js or React, and with responsive interface principles;\nExperience accepting or qualifying software developed by another organisation.\nWhere You'll Be:\nParis, London or Turin.\nEutelsat treats the protection of personal data submitted to it seriously. By submitting this application, you agree to the collection and retention of your personal data by Eutelsat and acknowledge notice of, and understand the terms of Eutelsat’s Privacy Policy (as amended from time to time).\nThis role is a Eutelsat job opening; all of our open roles are posted on the current OneWeb and Eutelsat websites. Please note that when you are applying, your application may be seen by both teams.","description_format":"text","description_chars":8691,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":10,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[{"language":"English","level":"All levels","optional":false}]},"benefits":["Flexible schedule","Hybrid work"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"France","iso":"FR","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-27T17:04:32Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":76,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.847,"p_room":0.9,"age_days":17,"expected_fill_days":28,"reasons":["conf:0","velocity","win:mid"],"computed_at":"2026-11-01T06:10:25Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/eutelsat-user-terminal-senior-software-engineer-platform-apis-oneweb-next","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/eutelsat-user-terminal-senior-software-engineer-platform-apis-oneweb-next.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-11-01T10:46:28Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":16676,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-11-02T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":52957},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=52957"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Feutelsat-user-terminal-senior-software-engineer-platform-apis-oneweb-next"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Feutelsat-user-terminal-senior-software-engineer-platform-apis-oneweb-next"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Feutelsat-user-terminal-senior-software-engineer-platform-apis-oneweb-next"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/eutelsat-user-terminal-senior-software-engineer-platform-apis-oneweb-next\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Feutelsat-user-terminal-senior-software-engineer-platform-apis-oneweb-next"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3345429}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"eutelsat.com","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3345429},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
