As we continue to scale nationwide, we're investing in finance systems, automation, and controls that enable a best-in-class accounting organization capable of supporting rapid growth.\nWe're looking for an experienced Assistant Controller who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex accounting challenges, and wants to help build scalable financial processes from the ground up.\nPosition Summary\nThe Assistant Controller serves as the Controller's primary business partner and is responsible for overseeing the monthly close process, technical accounting, financial reporting, audit readiness, and internal controls. This role will play a key part in building and improving accounting processes through automation while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP.\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys both technical accounting and leveraging technology to improve finance operations.\nKey Responsibilities\nAccounting & Month-End Close\nOwn and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process.\nMaintain the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts.\nPrepare, review, and approve journal entries and account reconciliations.\nEnsure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled accurately and timely.\nInvestigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances.\nPartner cross-functionally to ensure accurate financial reporting.\nTechnical Accounting & Financial Reporting\nResearch and apply U.S. GAAP guidance to complex accounting transactions.\nDevelop and maintain formal accounting policies and procedures.\nPrepare financial statements and supporting schedules.\nSupport revenue recognition, lease accounting, inventory valuation, and other technical accounting matters.\nPrepare financial analyses and variance explanations for leadership.\nAudit & Internal Controls\nServe as the primary accounting contact for external auditors.\nCoordinate audit requests and prepare supporting documentation.\nMaintain strong internal controls and accounting documentation.\nContinuously improve accounting processes to strengthen compliance and reduce risk.\nEnsure the organization remains audit-ready throughout the year.\nSystems & Process Improvement\nIdentify opportunities to automate accounting workflows and eliminate manual processes.\nUtilize technology, AI tools, and data analytics to improve efficiency.\nPartner with internal technology teams to improve accounting systems and reporting.\nSupport integrations between financial systems and operational platforms.\nContribute to the ongoing development of scalable finance infrastructure.\nLeadership\nAct as the Controller's second-in-command and trusted business partner.\nCollaborate with Finance, Operations, Sales, and Executive Leadership.\nMentor future accounting team members and establish best practices.\nLead special projects and process improvement initiatives as the company grows.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\n5+ years of progressive accounting experience.\nStrong experience managing the month-end close process.\nThorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.\nExperience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.\nExperience supporting external audits.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent attention to detail and organizational skills.\nAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nPreferred Qualifications\nCPA certification or active CPA candidate.\nExperience with high-growth startup or technology companies.\nAutomotive, dealership, retail, or inventory accounting experience.\nExperience using ERP or accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar platforms.\nExperience with SQL, Python, data automation, or reporting tools.\nFamiliarity with Git, APIs, or AI-assisted workflow tools is a plus.\nExperience building scalable accounting processes and internal controls.\nCompensation & Benefits\nBase Salary: $165,000 - $200,000 annually, depending on experience\nIn addition, Ever offers:\nEquity opportunity\nMedical, Dental, and Vision Insurance\n401(k)\nPaid Time Off\nCareer development and growth opportunities\nOpportunity to help build a rapidly growing technology-driven company\nEver is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
