We deliver absolute confidence in environments where failure is not an option.\nJob Title: Senior Software Engineer\nLocation: London (2-3 days per week, hybrid in office)\nRole overview\nAs a Senior Software Engineer on the platform team at Everfox (London), you will work as a high performance individual contributor, as well as amplifying the work of others. The platform team is responsible for embedded software running on our hardware appliances, as well as full stack on-prem web applications.\nAs Everfox is a defense-grade cybersecurity company, you will approach everything from a security-first perspective, and have a deep understanding of cybersecurity. The software maintained by the platform team runs on hardware-based security appliances for use in critical infrastructure and defense.\nWhat the role entails\nAs a Senior Software Engineer on the platform team, you will:\nDesign, implement, and maintain embedded linux software written in C++, Rust, and Python\nEnsure that our software has a high level of unit and automated test coverage\nDebug system-level issues involving multiple software and hardware components\nLead technical work, taking requirements and breaking down into smaller tasks to achieve a goal\nCollaborate and communicate effectively within the team, and across multiple teams in the engineering org\nDocument technical information clearly to enable other developers\nEnable and unblock other developers, becoming a force multiplier who improves the effectiveness of the team overall\nLeverage large language models to assist with development tasks and review work\nKey responsibilities\nAs a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:\nTaking ownership of, and responsibility for development tasks and completing work to a high standard\nReducing ambiguity by understanding requirements and scoping into smaller pieces of work\nEnsuring that technical information is communicated clearly\nEnsuring less senior developers on the team are not blocked\nLeveraging CI and automated testing to ensure that changes are integrated often\nClearly highlighting and communicating any areas of project risk or uncertainty within development tasks\nQualifications\nTypically 5-7 years experience as a software engineer. However a track record of strong ability and effectiveness is what we look for - rather than number of years.\nAn undergraduate degree in computer science, or a science / technology / engineering / mathematics related field.\nEngineering skills\nModern C++17 (and later) for resource-contained, security critical devices\nExperience with Rust is beneficial, but not critical for the role\nPython development for tools, test frameworks, and on-prem web services\nDebugging system level issues across a whole stack of software components\nThorough understanding of modern cryptography and cybersecurity\nExperience designing CI workflows (automated / unit testing, GitLab, Docker)\nExperience with OS hardening or mandatory access control policy, such as SELinux, is beneficial but not critical for the role\nExperience using LLMs to assist in development, review, and testing. Experience orchestrating multiple agents to complete large development tasks is beneficial but not critical for the role\nCoordination\nProven ability to lead technical work: implement features from requirements, through to design, implementation, test, and release\nCoordinate with hardware designers, and other software teams\nUnblock and enable other developers as a force multiplier. Mentor other developers\nClear communication is a must\nDocument requirements, implementations, and specs clearly\nA reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is:\n£90,000.00-130,000.00 GBPThe actual salary offered may vary within the range based on a candidates' unique experience, locale, and business needs.
