If you're looking to work flexibly and with purpose, join a team that delivers measurable change for millions.\nAbout the Safe Water Now program\nEvidence Action’s Safe Water Now (SWN) program provides safe drinking water to over 10 million people across rural Uganda, Malawi, and Kenya. Recent evidence highlights that water treatment reduces all-cause child mortality by about 25%. Evidence Action’s designs deliver safe water at the source in rural settings through its established Dispensers for Safe Water (DSW) and newly launched In-Line Chlorination (ILC) interventions. Over the past year, we’ve more than doubled our footprint in East and Southern Africa and are exploring expansion into new countries, as well as developing an innovation agenda through our Accelerator process to develop the next generation of safe water programs.\nThe Role\nThe Driver will provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for authorized Evidence Action personnel, materials, and goods. The role ensures seamless logistical support for program operations, ranging from urban office errands to remote field-based activities\nResponsibilities\n1. Transportation & Safety\nSafely drive staff and authorized visitors to designated locations, including remote field sites for program implementation.\nSecurely transport and deliver equipment, health commodities (like chlorine or tablets), and official documents.\nEnsure all passengers adhere to safety regulations (e.g., seatbelts) and that the vehicle is never used for unauthorized purposes.\nFollow security protocols provided by the supervisor and stay informed of road conditions or \"high-risk\" zones.\n2. Vehicle Maintenance & Care\nConduct daily inspections of oil, water, tire pressure, brakes, and electrical systems.\nMonitor mileage and coordinate with the Operations team to ensure the vehicle is serviced on time.\nMaintain the interior and exterior cleanliness of the vehicle to reflect a professional organizational image.\nReport mechanical breakdowns immediately and perform minor/preventative maintenance as needed.\n3. Reporting & Administration\nMaintain meticulous records of every trip, including mileage, fuel consumption, and purpose of travel.\nManage fueling and ensure all receipts are captured and reconciled with the recorded mileage.\nSwiftly report any accidents or security incidents according to organizational policy and legal requirements.\nAssist with basic administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, or running errands during periods when driving is not required.\nRequirements\nMinimum of MSCE. \nThose with a certificate in Motor Vehicle Mechanics will have a significant advantage.\nAt least 5 years of professional driving experience, preferably with an International NGO (INGO) or a large corporate entity.\nPossession of a valid and clean driving licence\nStrong knowledge of local road networks and traffic laws.\nBasic computer literacy (MS Word/Excel) for record-keeping.\nHigh level of integrity, punctuality, and the ability to work in a fast-paced field environment.\nProficiency in spoken and written English.\nPosition Location\nThe role will be based in Mangochi.\nPlease note that we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of a Malawi employment visa at this time.
