The role manages programme workstreams spanning epidemiological classification, targeted Mass drug Administration, surveillance and early-warning response, drug supply chains, and health systems strengthening; provides technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and county systems; and supports the handover of routine functions. The Senior Associate also ensures effective delivery of school-based deworming where indicated, using programme data and field insights to guide planning, resolve uncertainties, and strengthen evidence-led implementation.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate targeted treatment, surveillance, classification, and related programme workstreams in line with national STH/SCH guidance.
  • Provide day-to-day technical assistance to government counterparts and support planning, coordination, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and partner meetings.
  • Review programme plans, guidelines, SOPs, and reports; document implementation challenges, lessons, and recommendations.
  • Maintain and update county/IU classification and surveillance data, support impact assessments and field surveillance, and facilitate timely notify-verify-investigate-respond actions.
  • Ensure accurate flow of classification, surveillance, coverage, and treatment data into KHIS, eCHIS, IDB, and other reporting systems.
  • Support JAP/JRSM submissions, drug quantification, delivery monitoring, redistribution, and supply-chain reporting in collaboration with MoH and KEMSA.
  • Coordinate county advocacy, training cascades, community mobilization, MDA scheduling, field supervision, and implementation monitoring.
  • Ensure MDA occurs only where indicated, monitor coverage, dosing, compliance, adverse events, and implementation fidelity, and escalate critical issues promptly.
  • Train and supervise data collectors and field teams, maintain accurate programme records, and support post-MDA reconciliation and reporting.
  • Support evidence and classification documentation for national reporting and validation processes, including EPHP requirements, and undertake other assigned duties.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Timely, complete, and accurate programme reports and government technical assistance.
  • Accurate and timely JAP/JRSM submissions aligned with current classification and treatment needs.
  • Timely drug delivery monitoring, redistribution, and resolution of supply issues.
  • Training and targeted MDA activities completed on schedule and according to guidance.
  • Same-day escalation of severe adverse events and confirmed surveillance signals.
  • Timely collection, cleaning, validation, and reporting of programme data.
  • Timely root-cause analysis of unexpected MLE variations and actionable feedback to government.
  • Accurate, up-to-date county/IU classification records maintained within agreed timelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Project Management, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of program implementation experience.
  • Proven teamwork, cross-cultural, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience collaborating with government stakeholders.
  • Strong multitasking, time management, and communication skills.
  • Adaptable, collaborative, and constructively involved in organizational development.
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, reliable, flexible, and proactive.
  • Proficient in standard office software and web research.
  • Discreet with confidential matters.
  • Humble, self-reflective, and possesses a sense of humor.
  • Willingness to build working knowledge of surveillance-based and classification-driven programme design as the NSBDP transitions from broad MDA delivery toward targeted treatment and government-owned control.
