Stay for the culture.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing:\nPosition Summary\nThe Senior Software Engineer leads the design, development, and deployment of complex software solutions, ensuring scalability and maintainability. This role architects and implements high-performance APIs and microservices that support critical business functions, and works closely with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers to translate business needs into technical solutions.\nThis individual drives the technical vision for projects, contributes to architectural discussions and long-term planning, and mentors junior engineers to foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence. The role is expected to use approved AI-assisted tools to accelerate delivery and improve quality while remaining fully accountable for every result delivered.\nAI-Assisted Engineering Expectations\nEvolent engineers are expected to effectively leverage approved AI-assisted development and productivity tools (e.g., code assistants, copilots, automation agents, knowledge assistants, and analytics tools) to improve quality, efficiency, and innovation while maintaining accountability for all delivered work. These expectations span the full engineering lifecycle, not only code generation, including iterating with AI on solution design and architecture, evaluating alternatives, revising existing architecture, and producing design artifacts. Engineers remain responsible for validating outputs, ensuring solution quality, protecting sensitive information, and complying with security, privacy, regulatory, and Responsible AI standards.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign and Development\nLead the design, development, and deployment of complex software solutions, ensuring scalability and maintainability.\nArchitect and implement high-performance APIs and microservices that support critical business functions.\nCollaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, UX designers, and other engineers, to translate business needs into technical solutions.\nDrive the technical vision for projects, contributing to architectural discussions and long-term planning.\nEngineering Excellence\nConduct thorough code reviews, provide constructive feedback and ensure adherence to best coding practices.\nMentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.\nIdentify and implement improvements to the software development lifecycle, including automation, testing, and CI/CD pipelines.\nTroubleshoot and resolve production issues, working to ensure high availability and reliability of services.\nEvaluate and integrate new tools, frameworks, and technologies to improve development processes and team productivity.\nAI-Enabled Delivery\nUtilize approved AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate software development, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and analysis activities.\nApply AI-assisted development techniques throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and operational support.\nEvaluate and validate AI-generated outputs for correctness, security, maintainability, compliance, and business appropriateness.\nContinuously identify opportunities to improve engineering productivity and solution quality through AI-enabled workflows and automation.\nContribute reusable prompts, skills, agents, and AI-assisted development patterns to benefit the team.\nPartner with architecture, security, and platform teams to integrate AI-enabled capabilities into enterprise applications.\nGovernance and Compliance\nFollow enterprise policies governing AI usage, intellectual property protection, security, privacy, PHI handling, and Responsible AI practices.\nEnsure no confidential, regulated, or protected information is used with unapproved AI services or tooling.\nParticipate in peer reviews and validation processes for AI-assisted solutions.\nRequired Qualifications\n5+ years of professional software development experience, with a proven track record of delivering complex, scalable applications.\nProficiency in multiple programming languages, such as C#, Java, or Python, and familiarity with their ecosystems.\n5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft and .NET technologies, specifically .NET Core, C#, and T-SQL.\nExperience building scalable and performant RESTful APIs using ASP.NET.\nRelational database development experience, preferably using SQL Server.\nExperience with at least one testing framework (e.g., xUnit, NUnit, MSTest), logging framework (e.g., NLog, log4net, Serilog), and ORM framework (e.g., Dapper, Entity Framework, NHibernate).\nDeep understanding of software architecture patterns, such as microservices, event-driven architecture, and RESTful API design.\nStrong knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and container orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.\nExpertise in database design and optimization for both SQL and NoSQL databases.\nExperience using GitHub, Azure Git, or other Git-based source control systems, including working with pull requests.\nAbility to work both independently and as part of a globally distributed team of technical and non-technical colleagues.\nExcellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues quickly.\nStrong communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions, present to stakeholders, and write detailed documentation.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience using AI-assisted development platforms such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools.\nFamiliarity with prompt engineering, AI-assisted testing, and AI-enabled software delivery practices.\nExperience integrating AI services, models, or agents into production applications.\nExperience with front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue), including developing Single Page Applications (SPA).\nExperience with additional back-end technologies (e.g., Node.js, Django, Spring Boot).\nExperience with EMR integration.\nExperience working with NoSQL data stores (e.g., Elasticsearch).\nHealthcare domain experience.\nEducation\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a
