Stay for the culture.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing:\nPosition Summary:\nThe Software Engineer designs, develops, tests, and maintains software applications using modern programming languages and frameworks. Working in an Agile, globally distributed team, this role partners with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate requirements into technical specifications and deliver clean, maintainable, and reliable code.\nThis individual works with minimal supervision on assigned features, actively learning and adopting the development methods, frameworks, and patterns defined for the role and by the team, and contributes to the design and implementation of enhancements to the team’s systems. The role is expected to use approved AI-assisted tools to accelerate delivery and improve quality while remaining fully accountable for every delivered result.\nAI-Assisted Engineering Expectations:\nEvolent engineers are expected to effectively leverage approved AI-assisted development and productivity tools (e.g., code assistants, copilots, automation agents, knowledge assistants, and analytics tools) to improve quality, efficiency, and innovation while maintaining accountability for all delivered work. These expectations span the full engineering lifecycle, not only code generation, including iterating with AI on solution design, evaluating alternatives, and producing design artifacts. Engineers remain responsible for validating outputs, ensuring solution quality, protecting sensitive information, and complying with security, privacy, regulatory, and Responsible AI standards.\nKey Responsibilities:\nDesign and Development\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain software applications for assigned features using modern programming languages and frameworks.\nCollaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.\nWrite clean, maintainable, and efficient code, following the team’s established best practices, patterns, and coding standards.\nWrite unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure code quality and reliability.\nContribute to the design and implementation of enhancements to the team’s systems.\nQuality and Continuous Improvement\nParticipate in code reviews to ensure code quality, functionality, and maintainability, and seek feedback to continuously improve skills.\nTroubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues and bugs in a timely manner.\nOptimize applications for performance, scalability, and reliability.\nFollow and help reinforce the team’s development processes and standards, helping peers understand the benefits and risks of exceptions.\nContribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and methodologies, and stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.\nAI-Enabled Delivery\nUtilize approved AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate software development, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and analysis activities.\nApply AI-assisted development techniques throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.\nEvaluate and validate AI-generated outputs for correctness, security, maintainability, compliance, and business appropriateness before use.\nLearn and adopt the prompts, skills, agents, and AI-assisted development patterns defined by the team, and share improvements that benefit the team.\nIdentify opportunities to improve engineering productivity and quality through AI-enabled workflows and automation.\nGovernance and Compliance\nFollow enterprise policies governing AI usage, intellectual property protection, security, privacy, PHI handling, and Responsible AI practices.\nEnsure no confidential, regulated, or protected information is used with unapproved AI services or tooling.\nParticipate in peer reviews and validation processes for AI-assisted solutions.\nRequired Qualifications:\n2+ years of professional software development experience, with a proven track record of delivering complex, scalable applications.\nProficiency in C# or Python and familiarity with their ecosystems.\nWorking knowledge of relational database development, preferably using SQL Server.\nStrong understanding of software design principles, algorithms, and data structures.\nFamiliarity with Git-based version control (e.g., GitHub, Azure Git) and collaborative coding workflows, including pull requests.\nFamiliarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).\nExcellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a globally distributed team.\nStrong communication skills, openness to feedback, and the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience related to HL7 FHIR. Understanding resource-first FHIR patterns. Comfortable reading FHIR implementation guides.\nExperience in healthcare data domains such as providers, members, prior authorizations, and claims.\nExposure to AI-assisted development platforms such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools.\nFamiliarity with prompt engineering, AI-assisted testing, and AI-enabled software delivery practices.\nExperience with additional back-end technologies (e.g., Node.js, Django, Spring).\nFamiliarity with microservices architecture.\nExperience working with NoSQL data stores (e.g., Elasticsearch).\nHealthcare domain experience.\nEducation:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\nTo ensure a secure hiring process we have implemented several identity verification steps, including submission of a government issued photo ID.
