As our mechanical maintenance technician, you will report directly to the Maintenance supervisor. You will be working with a high-performing and friendly multi-skilled team who are primarily responsible for maintenance and repair of Production, Utilities, Laboratory and Office Assets. This role is based at our site in Abingdon.\nRole: Maintenance Technician\nRole Type: Permanent\nHours: Full time, 40 hours per week\nSalary: Competitive salary, plus excellent company benefits package\nLocation: Milton Park, Abingdon (onsite role)\nAptuit is a leader in the discovery and development of novel small molecule drugs. The Company has built substantial drug discovery and development expertise and an industrialised platform that can drive new innovative small molecule compounds into the clinic.\nKey Responsibilities\nExecute Planned Preventative Maintenance to ensure that the building, plant and equipment continues to support day to day operations.\nMaintain site services; AHU’s, extract fans/motors, electrical LV systems, lighting, water systems (process /domestic) inclusive of pumps, laboratory fume cupboards, pipework, calorifiers, boilers, pressurisation units and vacuum systems. Complete investigations, problem solving, and fault finding when breakdowns occur.\nLiaise with, manage, and support external contractors in maintaining; gas boilers, compressed air, UPS, electrical LV switchgear, PAT, BMS, fire alarm, generators, laboratory gas services, general building fabric and facility repairs, AC/chillers, LEV & pressurised equipment.\nAs a Team member, support routine activities such as weekly fire alarm testing, and daily checks to verify correct operation of engineering plant.\nAction maintenance/engineering requests, either internally or by use of external contractors for specialist work.\nOccasional weekend/out of hours work and participation in on-call rota (~1 week per month)\nUndertake the duties outlined above and other duties as directed by Engineering Management and from time to time carry out any additional tasks as may be required to support the Company.\nSkills & Competencies\nExperience gained in operation of a Building Management System, Energy Initiatives and/or working in ATEX environments would be advantageous.\nSelf-motivated, enthusiastic, co-operative and reliable with the desire and motivation to grow and take on increased responsibility and/or supervisory responsibility.\nAble to learn new techniques, processes and procedures.\nCustomer focused, with ability to work both independently and as part of a team.\nAble to work methodically with attention to detail, even when under pressure.\nBasic computer literacy and knowledge is expected.\nEnthusiastic and flexible, positive ‘go the extra mile’ approach.\nEducation and Experience\nWorking knowledge, ideally gained in a pharmaceutical (GMP) or life-science research organisation undertaking laboratory activities.\nIndustry experience post Mechanical Apprenticeship, or equivalent experience (NVQ Level 2/3) gained in a facilities, manufacturing, chemical, utility or laboratory environment is essential.\nH&S Training based on practical experience.\nWe offer a competitive salary and benefits package\nPension on completion of your 3-month probationary period.
