Once you’re in, there’s no limits on where your career could take you.\nThe Role\nWe’re looking for a hands-on and people-first Duty Manager to join our Front Office team at Rydges Wellington. Reporting to the Front Office Manager, you’ll oversee the day-to-day running of the hotel in the absence of senior leadership, ensuring seamless operations, exceptional guest experiences, and a safe, well-run environment at all times.\nYou’ll be the face of the hotel during your shift – leading from the front, supporting your team, and stepping in wherever needed to deliver a consistently high standard of service.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead the hotel on shift in the absence of the General Manager, acting as the key decision maker and hotel ambassador\nOversee Front Office operations while supporting wider departments to ensure seamless daily performance\nDeliver exceptional guest experiences, including smooth arrivals, departures, VIP and group stays\nManage guest feedback and resolve issues promptly, maintaining a professional and solutions-focused approach\nDrive a strong service culture, ensuring brand standards, presentation and team performance are consistently met\nMonitor hotel safety, security, reporting and operational controls while supporting rostering, labour use and revenue optimisation\nWhat You’ll Bring\nPrevious experience in a Duty Manager or Front Office leadership role within a hotel environment\nStrong understanding of hotel operations, including Front Office, guest services and revenue principles\nProven ability to lead teams on shift, particularly in a fast-paced environment\nExcellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across teams\nConfidence in handling guest feedback, complaints and complex situations\nStrong organisational and problem-solving skills\nKnowledge of hotel systems and operational procedures (Opera Cloud)\nA commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences every time\nHow You Work\nDaymaker ethos — no one’s too big for the small things\nHands-on and non-hierarchical — leads from the front\nResilient and solutions-focused — stays calm and moves fast\nOwner’s mindset — takes accountability and drives continuous improvement\nPerks from Day One\nAs part of EVT, you unlock Elevate Perks from your first day.
