Our unique technology enables the highest system performance in the most compact and cost-effective formats in a variety of applications.\nThis site's Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) products are laser-based imaging tools that have transformed ophthalmic care and made notable impacts on patients in cardiology, dermatology, oncology, gastroenterology, and other medical specialties.\nWe are presently seeking an Sr, R&D Engineering Technician. This role serves as a key technical link between product development and manufacturing. The primary responsibility is to build, test, troubleshoot, and run experiments on new optical and photonic products during development, helping engineering teams evaluate performance, resolve technical issues, and refine designs. The role also supports the transfer of new products and processes into manufacturing by developing procedures, creating work instructions, training operators, and ensuring assembly and test methods can be executed consistently in production. Success in this position helps accelerate product development, improve manufacturability, and ensure a smooth transition from R&D to high-volume manufacturing.\nMain responsibilities:\nTest, characterize, and troubleshoot complex optical systems;\nDevelop and maintain work instructions, procedures, and test methods;\nHandle, assemble, and inspect small, delicate components using microscopes and precision tools;\nSupport the transfer of product builds and assembly processes from R&D to production;\nTrain operators on assembly, alignment, testing, and manufacturing procedures.\nRequirements:\n{Experience with lasers and photonic systems, including an understanding of optical components such as fibers, lenses, polarizers, isolators, and waveplates, with experience in fiber and optical component alignment, optical testing, and measurement techniques;\nHighly hands-on individual who enjoys working directly with optical hardware and test equipment;\nPreferred Traits:\nDetail-oriented with strong documentation skills;\nStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities;\nMechanical aptitude and technical curiosity;\nSelf-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities;\nStrong communication and teamwork skills.\nThe salary range for this position is $38.65 to $43.39 - Final wage depends on experience.\nAs part of our standard process for roles subject to ITAR regulations, we are required to ask all candidates whether they are a U.S. Person.
