Investigative Analyst - Due Diligence & Global Risk (Multiple Levels)

Location: Richmond, VA

Work Environment: Hybrid; client-facing work supporting a U.S. government program

Role Summary

Exiger Global Public Sector is hiring investigative analysts at multiple experience levels to support a mission-critical U.S. government program advancing strategic infrastructure and economic development around the world. Your work will help ensure that government-supported projects are built with trusted partners, and protected from corruption, fraud, foreign influence, and other risks that could undermine their success.

In this role, you will investigate the companies, individuals, and other parties behind consequential international projects. Using Exiger’s technology alongside public records, corporate registries, sanctions databases, media reporting, and other open-source resources, you will uncover important relationships and risk indicators, then translate your findings into clear, well-supported assessments. These assessments will directly inform decisions about where and with whom the U.S. government invests.

We are looking for curious, thoughtful researchers who want their work to matter. Relevant backgrounds may include due diligence, investigations, corporate intelligence, KYC/AML, compliance, geopolitical risk, or open-source intelligence. Strong judgment, clear writing, and attention to detail are essential. Prior supply-chain or government-contracting experience is helpful but not required; we will teach you our technology, methodology, and customer environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct in-depth due diligence and open-source investigations on companies, individuals, beneficial owners, project sponsors, contractors, and other third parties operating across global markets.
  • Analyze corporate ownership, control structures, business affiliations, government connections, and potential foreign influence, with particular attention to China, Russia, and other high-risk jurisdictions.
  • Identify and assess concerns involving sanctions, corruption, fraud, money laundering, political exposure, criminal activity, regulatory enforcement, litigation, adverse media, and reputational risk.
  • Use Exiger’s AI-enabled technology and external research sources to follow investigative leads, resolve conflicting information, and uncover relevant findings beyond initial search results.
  • Evaluate source reliability and clearly distinguish verified facts from allegations, unresolved reporting, or analytical judgments.
  • Translate complex findings into clear, concise, and thoroughly sourced assessments that support consequential government decisions.
  • Manage multiple investigations simultaneously while meeting strict turnaround times and established reporting standards.
  • Participate in peer review and quality-control processes to ensure analytical accuracy, consistency, and defensibility.
  • Communicate directly with customer stakeholders to clarify requirements, discuss findings, provide analytical context, and support their effective use of Exiger’s platform.

What You Need

Required

  • Professional experience in a research-intensive field such as due diligence, investigations, KYC/AML, compliance, corporate intelligence, journalism, or open-source intelligence. Experience requirements will vary by level.
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills, including the ability to follow leads, evaluate source reliability, reconcile conflicting information, and reach well-supported conclusions.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, concise, accurate, and thoroughly sourced written assessments.
  • Sound judgment and close attention to detail when working with complex, incomplete, or sensitive information.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and consistently deliver high-quality work within established deadlines.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain complex findings to customer stakeholders.
  • Comfort learning and using new databases, research tools, and AI-enabled technology.
  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent resident status and the ability to complete applicable federal background-screening requirements.

Preferred

  • Working knowledge of sanctions, bribery and corruption, money laundering, fraud, political exposure, regulatory enforcement, or reputational risk.
  • Experience analyzing beneficial ownership, government affiliations, foreign influence, or cross-border business relationships.
  • Familiarity with corporate registries, sanctions and watchlist databases, adverse-media platforms, trade or shipping records, or other specialized investigative resources.
  • Knowledge of international trade, infrastructure, development finance, supply chains, or third-party risk.
  • Experience supporting a government customer or working in a government-contracting environment.
  • Foreign-language skills applicable to research across international markets.
