Together, we are EXP.\nAre you ready to design your future?\nBe our nextCMT Laboratory Assistant Manager!\nYour work environment at EXP\nThe Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Laboratory Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the overall management and operation of the construction materials testing laboratory. This position oversees daily testing activities, personnel, equipment, quality assurance programs, and laboratory workflow to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant testing services. The Assistant Manager works closely with project managers, field staff, clients, and regulatory agencies to maintain the highest standards of quality, safety, and operational efficiency.\nThe ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with strong experience in soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials testing. This role requires the ability to supervise personnel, troubleshoot technical issues, manage laboratory resources, and ensure compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, GDOT, and other applicable standards.\nWhat a day at EXP has in store for you\nAssist in managing the day-to-day operations of the construction materials testing laboratory.\n\nCoordinate laboratory staffing and resources to maintain efficient operations.\n\nMonitor turnaround times and productivity metrics to ensure timely reporting of test results.\n\nEnsure all laboratory testing is performed in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, GDOT, and other applicable specifications.\n\nMaintain compliance with quality management systems, accreditation requirements, and internal QA/QC procedures.\n\nReview laboratory test results, calculations, and reports for accuracy and completeness.\n\nInvestigate testing discrepancies and implement corrective actions when required.\n\nParticipate in internal audits, proficiency sample programs, and laboratory assessments.\n\nMaintain complete and accurate records of testing activities and quality documentation.\n\nOversee calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of laboratory equipment.\n\nEnsure equipment certifications remain current and traceable.\n\nCoordinate with vendors and service providers for repairs and preventative maintenance.\n\nEvaluate equipment performance and recommend upgrades or replacement as necessary.\n\nWhat your experience looks like\n5+ years of experience in a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) laboratory environment.\n\nMinimum 2 years of supervisory, lead technician, or management experience preferred.\n\nDemonstrated experience with soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and related construction materials testing.\n\nHigh school diploma or GED required.\n\nAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field preferred.\n\nPreferred certifications include one or more of the following:\nACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I\nACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician\n\nNICET Level II or higher in Construction Materials Testing\n\nGDOT Soil Technician\n\nGDOT Concrete Technician\n\nGDOT Asphalt Technician\n\nOther state DOT certifications relevant to construction materials testing\n\nAbility to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 50 pounds.\n\nAbility to stand, walk, bend, and perform laboratory testing activities for extended periods.\n\nAbility to work in both laboratory and field environments as
