Together, we are EXP.\nAre you ready to design your future?\nBe our next Senior Fire Protection Engineer (FPE)!\nYour work environment at EXP\nEXP is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) to join our growing MEP/FP team in either our Coral Gables or Fort Lauderdale, Florida office.\nThe successful candidate will lead the planning, design, and coordination of fire protection systems for a variety of building projects, including aviation, hospitality, commercial, healthcare, government, and institutional facilities. This role offers opportunities to serve as Engineer of Record, mentor staff, and contribute to business development and client relationships.\nWhat a day at EXP has in store for you\nLead the design and engineering of fire protection systems, including: Automatic sprinkler systems\nStandpipe systems\nFire pumps\nSpecial hazard suppression systems\nClean agent systems\nWater-based suppression systems\nFire alarm and life safety coordination\n\nPerform and review hydraulic calculations and fire protection analyses.\nDevelop code compliance strategies and life safety assessments.\nPrepare fire protection drawings, technical specifications, engineering reports, and narratives.\nCoordinate with architects, structural engineers, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil disciplines.\nInterface with clients, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), insurance representatives, and contractors.\nConduct design reviews and provide quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) oversight.\nReview contractor submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and proposed substitutions.\nSupport construction administration activities, including site observations and resolution of field issues.\nPrepare life safety plans and egress analyses in accordance with applicable codes and standards.\nEnsure compliance with: NFPA standards\nInternational Building Code (IBC)\nFlorida Building Code (FBC)\nLocal AHJ requirements\nApplicable federal, state, and industry regulations\n\nManage multiple projects and maintain schedule, budget, and quality objectives.\nApply risk management principles to minimize exposure and promote technical excellence.\nMentor and develop junior engineers and designers.\nSupport business development efforts, proposal preparation, and client presentations.\nServe in a responsible-charge capacity for fire protection engineering services.\nWhat your experience looks like\nBachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.\nMinimum 8+ years of experience in fire protection engineering for building projects.\nRegistered Professional Engineer (P.E.) required.\n Professional Engineer license in Fire Protection Engineering preferred.\nDemonstrated experience with: Automatic sprinkler system design\nStandpipe systems\nFire pumps\nSpecial hazard suppression systems\nFire alarm and life safety systems coordination\nSmoke control systems\n\nStrong working knowledge of: NFPA 13\nNFPA 14\nNFPA 20\nNFPA 72\nNFPA 101\nInternational Building Code\nFlorida Building Code\n\nExperience preparing hydraulic calculations and code analyses.\nAbility to serve as lead engineer on multidisciplinary projects.\nStrong communication, client management, and project leadership skills.\nExperience mentoring junior staff and leading design teams.\nProficiency with AutoCAD and Revit;
