Together, we are EXP.\nAre you ready to design your future?\nBe our next Senior Mechanical Engineer!\nYour work environment at EXP\nWe are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Water & Wastewater team in Sudbury or Barrie Ontario. In this role, you will lead the planning, design, and delivery of municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and related infrastructure projects. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to develop innovative and sustainable engineering solutions that improve communities across Ontario.\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who is passionate about complex infrastructure projects and enjoys balancing technical excellence, project leadership, and client relationship management.\nWhat a day at EXP has in store for you\nLead the mechanical design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, reservoir systems, and related infrastructure projects.\nPrepare and oversee engineering calculations, technical specifications, reports, drawings, and contract documents.\nDesign and specify mechanical process equipment, including: Pumps and pumping systems\nBlowers and aeration systems\nChemical feed systems\nOdour control systems\nHVAC systems for treatment facilities\nSludge handling and dewatering equipment\nPiping and process mechanical systems\n\nConduct condition assessments, feasibility studies, master planning, and lifecycle evaluations of existing facilities.\nProvide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers and designers.\nCoordinate with civil, structural, electrical, process, instrumentation, and automation disciplines.\nManage project budgets, schedules, deliverables, and quality control requirements.\nParticipate in client meetings, presentations, and business development initiatives.\nReview shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide engineering support during construction.\nEnsure designs comply with applicable Ontario regulations, industry standards, and municipal requirements.\nWhat your experience looks like\nRequired\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.\nProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario or eligibility for registration.\n10+ years of related experience in water and wastewater treatment facility design.\nStrong understanding of municipal infrastructure projects and treatment processes.\nExperience preparing detailed design drawings, specifications, and contract documents.\nKnowledge of Ontario regulations, MECP requirements, and relevant industry standards.\nExperience working through all phases of project delivery, including planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.\nExcellent communication, technical writing, and client-facing skills.\nValid driver's license and willingness to travel within Ontario as required.\nPreferred\nExperience managing multidisciplinary engineering projects.\nFamiliarity with alternative project delivery methods, including Design-Build and Progressive Design-Build.\nConstruction administration and commissioning experience.\nProject Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset.\nExperience with industrial water treatment or process mechanical systems.\nTechnical Skills\nMechanical design of water and wastewater treatment processes and facilities.\nPumping system hydraulics and equipment selection.\nProcess piping design and equipment layouts.\nHVAC and building services for industrial and municipal facilities.\nEquipment procurement and technical specification development.\nConstruction support and commissioning services.\nProficiency with engineering software and design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Plant 3D, BIM platforms, and hydraulic modeling software.\n\nThis job posting is for an existing position vacancy within our organization.\nThe salary range for this role is between $109- 140K.
