Together, we are EXP.\nAre you ready to design your future?\nBe our next Senior Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager in San Francisco, California or Walnut Creek, California.\nYour work environment at EXP\nWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to work in a flexible role that includes engineering, design and specification of building mechanical and HVAC systems for Life Sciences, Research and Development, Pharmaceutical, and Critical Facilities Projects. Work will be performed under supervision of senior staff.\nWhat a day at EXP has in store for you\nDirect and lead submittals in response to RFP/ RFQ’s.\nManage existing and develop new client relationships\nExcellent communication, problem solving and analytical skills are required. Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in support of multiple projects is essential. \nREVIT and AutoCAD proficient with working drawings.\nPrepare floor plans showing mechanical and HVAC duct, piping, device layouts, equipment, etc.\nPerform cooling and heating load calculations.\nPrepare one-line diagrams for supply air, exhaust air, return air, chilled water, heating hot water, office zones, laboratory, zones, etc. with limited input from senior staff.\nWrite studies and reports for systems on projects.\nUnderstand sequences of operations for AHU’s, CHW and HHW systems.\nUnderstand and applies concepts of CHW, HHW, variable & constant flow systems.\nAir side systems- CV, VAV, coil selection, fan selection.\nHydronic Systems - hot, chilled, condenser, steam.\nThorough understanding of psychometrics and be able to apply to every project.\nAdvanced equipment selection and analysis - chillers, boilers, air terminals, cooling towers, air valves, hepa filters, DX equipment, and water source heat pumps.\nThorough understanding of humid climate design risks.\nThorough understanding of total energy concepts.\nMechanical specifications with limited input from senior staff.\nLayout instrumentation and controls devices on floor plans with limited input from senior staff.\nDevelop shaft, chase, and equipment room sizes during SD and DD phases.\nEdit specifications to reflect project requirements.\nSelect and schedule equipment with limited oversight from senior staff.\nMeet with vendors to determine specification requirements for application.\nPerforms field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projects.\nCoordinates with other disciplines (MEPFP, Architectural, Structural, Process, etc.)\nMaintains the engineering book for the project.\nRespond to RFI’s for the project, and accurately review submittal with limited input from senior staff.\nSolve installation problems with mechanical and HVAC systems, travel to site to resolve issues.\nApply risk management procedures to minimize exp’s and client’s exposure to problems.\nUnderstand work planning and manage design process to the available hours in the work plan.\nUnderstand proper scope of SD, DD, CD and LOD 100, 200 and 300 level documents - and deliver appropriate documentation.\nWork with senior engineers, PM and client to meet scheduled milestones on multiple projects.\nManage and deliver revisions and sketches.\nEdit and develop scope of work narratives (Basis of Design, etc.)\nMeet with contractors during the bid phase to review construction details.\nWhat your experience looks like\nMinimum of 7 years experience in related design of Life Sciences, Research and Development, Pharmaceutical, and Critical Facilities systems and building projects.\nEngineering Degree (BS Mechanical, BS Architectural Engineering, or equivalent) from an accredited school.\nPE license required\nAbility to travel \nThe pay range for this role is $150,000 to $180,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
