Join us and build for travelers everywhere.\nAbout the Team:\nWe are seeking a Machine Learning Engineer II to join our Advertising Technology team, where we build and operate large-scale batch and real-time ML systems that power pricing, inventory optimization, ranking, and trust & safety across the ad platform. This role sits at the intersection of machine learning, distributed systems, and MLOps, directly influencing how models are designed, deployed, and operated in production at scale.\nYou will work closely with Software Engineering, Data Science, Product, and Platform teams to translate modeling ideas into reliable, observable, and scalable ML systems, while setting technical direction, raising engineering standards, and mentoring others as the platform and business grow.\nIn this role, you will:\nBuild batch and real-time ML pipelines for ad delivery, ranking, bidding, and optimization\n\nDeploy and integrate ML models into low-latency ad delivery and campaign systems\n\nDevelop and maintain data pipelines for large-scale impression, click, and conversion data\n\nCreate reusable ML components, APIs, and workflows to support experimentation and iteration\n\nEnsure reliability, scalability, and performance through monitoring and continuous optimization\n\nAnalyze data to improve models, features, and business outcomes\n\nCollaborate with product, engineering, and analytics teams to deliver marketplace impact\n\nApply software engineering best practices and support responsible use of AI/ML\n\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience\n\n2+ years of industry experience in machine learning engineering, including model development and production deployment\n\nProficiency in Python or Java, with experience using ML frameworks and solid software engineering fundamentals\n\nProven ability to own and deliver ML components or services within cross-functional teams\n\nFamiliarity with real-time or near-real-time ML systems and production operations\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience operating production ML systems at scale, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and iterative improvement\n\nFamiliarity with distributed data processing (Spark, Databricks) and cloud platforms (AWS preferred)\n\nExposure to MLOps practices, such as model deployment, monitoring, retraining, and CI/CD for ML\n\nExperience building or experimenting with ranking, prediction, classification, recommendation, or NLP models\n\nExperience designing APIs, data pipelines, and data models for ML-powered applications\n\nInterest or background in advertising, marketplaces, e-commerce, or travel platforms\n\nAwareness of responsible and secure AI/ML practices in production environments\n\nPlease note that this role is only available in San Jose, CA or Seattle, WA, in alignment with our flexible work model, which requires employees to be in the office at least three days a week. We are unable to offer relocation assistance for this role.\nThe total cash range for this position in San Jose is $129,000.00 to $180,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $206,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.\nThe total cash range for this position in Seattle is $119,000.00 to $166,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $190,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience.
