coach senior talent to operateindependently and extend engineering practices across the organization.\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree with 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, or a master’s degree with 10+ years of professional software engineering experience or equivalentprofessional experience.\n\nDemonstratedownership of complex systems, workflows or platformsthat support a business unitor function, andintegrate with broader Expedia Groupsystems and cross-domain capabilities.\n\nDeep expertisein professional software engineering practices across the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, operations, system design, API design, data modeling, and observability.\n\nExperience making technology and architecture choices across teams and multiple technologies or languages, while guiding others toward well-defined solutions for complex systems.\n\nHands-on experience building, deploying, or operating AI-enabled systems, tools, agents, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products or business processes.\n\nExperience working directly withinpartner business units and their teams to understand ambiguous needs, deliver usable technical solutions quickly, and drive adoption beyond the initialprototype or pilot.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience defining AI engineering, software engineering, or architecture best practices at a department or organizational level and establishingstandards for operational excellence, code quality, scalability, resilience, observability, testability, evaluation, and responsible AIacross multiple projects.\n\nProven ability to shape product and technology direction, develop business-unit and domain-level AI architecture vision, while creating reusable patterns that can scale across Expedia Group.\n\nExperience designing and productionizing LLM, generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic, conversational, or AI-assisted workflow solutions.\n\nExperience establishingAI evaluation and governance practices, including quality measurement, hallucination mitigation, confidence scoring, human oversight, security, privacy, auditability, and monitoring.\n\nExperience serving as a trustedtechnical partner to executive and cross-organizational leaders, influencing domain strategyand enabling decisions across cross-functional teams.\n\nDemonstrated successmentoring engineers across multiple levels, coaching senior individual contributors in leadership skills, identifyingrising talent, and supporting engineering-management priorities through technical partnership when needed.\n\nExperience evaluating industry trends pragmatically, distinguishing durable opportunities from disruptive or short-lived technologies, and applying AI/ML-enabled approaches selectively to improve engineering, product, or operationaloutcomes.\n\nThe total cash range for this position in Seattle is $231,000.00 to $323,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $369,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.\nThe total cash range for this position in San Jose is $249,000.00 to $348,500.00.
