Successful candidates should be comfortable using these tools to improve productivity while maintaining strong technical judgment, code quality, and ownership of delivered solutions.\nWhat You'll Do:\nDesign and implement scalable software systems, services, and internal tools using Python and modern engineering practices\nLead architectural decisions across application, deployment, infrastructure, and operational domains\nDesign systems with maintainability, security, resiliency, scalability, and observability as first-class concerns\nBuild and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation workflows\nDesign, deploy, and support cloud-native applications running in containerized and Kubernetes-based environments\nEstablish and champion engineering best practices around testing, automation, monitoring, reliability, and software quality\nCollaborate with software engineers, platform engineers, and mission stakeholders to deliver complete solutions\nTroubleshoot and resolve complex issues across development, deployment, and production environments\nMentor engineers and provide technical leadership across projects and teams\nContribute to verification, validation, testing, and evaluation environments supporting mission needs\nSkills and Experience You Bring:\nU.S. Citizenship - must be a US citizen to fulfill clearance requirements\nActive TS/SCI security clearance\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline\n8+ years of professional software engineering experience\nExpertise in one or more modern programming languages and the ability to quickly become productive in new technology stacks\nStrong software engineering fundamentals independent of language or framework\nExperience designing and delivering production software systems\nStrong background in software architecture, system integration, and distributed systems\nExperience building, deploying, and supporting containerized applications\nExperience deploying and operating applications in Kubernetes-based environments\nExperience building CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation solutions\nExperience implementing monitoring, logging, tracing, and observability capabilities\nExperience operating within cloud environments such as AWS\nStrong troubleshooting, communication, and technical leadership skills\nPreferred Qualifications:\nInfrastructure-as-Code experience using AWS CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies\nGitLab CI/CD experience\nOpenTelemetry experience\nExperience supporting highly available or mission-critical systems\nExperience mentoring and developing engineers\nExperience incorporating AI-assisted development tools into engineering workflows\nWho is Expedition Technology?\nExpedition Technology (EXP) designs, develops, and delivers innovative solutions with national impact for the defense and intelligence communities.
