The role provides operational leadership for freight receiving, cargo availability, staging, consolidation, cross dock, airport transfers, bonded movements, FTZ-related handling where applicable, cartage interface, customer exceptions, warehouse process discipline, service provider coordination, safety, security, compliance, employee development, and continuous improvement.\nCore Responsibilities:\nMulti-Site CFS Operations Ownership \nLead the operational performance of SFO Airport CFS, the New Off Airport Facility, and the Sacramento Facility.\n\nEstablish consistent CFS operating standards across all assigned locations.\n\nEnsure daily execution of receiving, staging, breakdown, build-up, freight release, transfer, cross dock, inventory control, and exception resolution.\n\nMaintain alignment between airport operations, off-airport staging, regional Sacramento flows, cartage requirements, and customer commitments.\n\nEnsure each facility has clear operating expectations, staffing plans, escalation points, safety practices, and communication routines.\n\nFreight Flow and Warehouse Execution \nOversee inbound and outbound CFS freight flow across assigned locations.\n\nEnsure freight is received, checked, staged, moved, transferred, released, and documented accurately.\n\nManage cargo availability, driver check-in, dock flow, staging locations, transfer coordination, and freight release readiness.\n\nPrevent, identify, and resolve overages, shortages, damages, inventory discrepancies, process failures, and customer exceptions.\n\nPromote strong warehouse discipline for labeling, scanning, manifest control, release procedures, and exception documentation.\n\nInventory, Dwell, and CFS Metrics \nMaintain accurate visibility to freight inventory, staging, dwell, volume, and capacity.\n\nUse CFS reporting and monitor tools to track beginning inventory, received volume, loading volume, ending inventory, capacity utilization, truck queue time, and related CFS performance measures.\n\nReview dwell and exception trends to identify process gaps and service improvement opportunities.\n\nEnsure inventory discrepancies are researched, corrected, escalated, and documented.\n\nMaintain routine performance reviews for each assigned CFS location.\n\nSafety, Security, and Compliance\nMaintain a safe and secure operating environment across all assigned CFS facilities.\n\nEnsure driver check-in, access control, CCTV, alarms, restricted areas, dock safety, and freight staging requirements are followed.\n\nPartner with Security, Health & Safety, Facility Management, Trade Compliance, and operational leaders on audits, incident response, corrective actions, and facility controls.\n\nEnsure warehouse teams understand security expectations for people, freight, buildings, service providers, and customer cargo.\n\nEscalate security breaches, missing cargo, seal issues, pilferage, incorrect documentation, or material freight exceptions immediately.\n\nCartage, Airport, and Regional Coordination \nCoordinate freight movements between airport CFS, off-airport facility, Sacramento, cartage providers, airlines, customers, and other district locations.\n\nPartner with Cartage and Transcon leadership to align pickups, deliveries, sweeps, transfers, linehaul, and regional service schedules.\n\nEnsure operating procedures define when cargo should move from airport CFS to off-airport staging, Sacramento, or customer delivery.\n\nSupport consistent communication between CFS, dispatch, service providers, and operations teams.\n\nMaintain exception escalation paths for missed pickups, delayed freight, constrained capacity, or urgent customer requirements.\n\nFinancial and Resource Management \nManage labor planning, overtime, equipment needs, service provider cost, facility support needs, and warehouse operating expenses.\n\nSupport budgeting and cost control for the assigned CFS facilities.\n\nReview productivity, staffing, capacity, queue time, equipment utilization, and cost trends.\n\nIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce dwell, reduce rework, improve load planning, and strengthen facility throughput.\n\nSupport pricing and customer discussions where CFS, storage, handling, screening, cross dock, transfer, or regional service costs are impacted.\n\nEmployee Development and Leadership \nRecruit, train, coach, develop, and retain CFS employees and supervisors.\n\nEnsure team members understand expectations, SOPs, safety requirements, security expectations, and escalation protocols.\n\nConduct regular staff meetings, one-on-ones, training follow-up, and performance reviews.\n\nBuild bench strength through cross-training between airport CFS, off-airport facility, Sacramento, cartage, warehouse, and support functions.\n\nPromote a culture of accountability, safety, security, customer service, urgency, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Key Performance Indicators\n\n Required\n5+ years of warehouse, CFS, airport cargo, freight forwarding, transportation, distribution, or logistics operations experience. \nLeadership experience managing warehouse, CFS, airport, cartage, or freight operations teams. \nStrong understanding of freight receiving, staging, release, transfer, cross dock, inventory control, exception handling, and service provider coordination. \nAbility to manage multiple locations, including airport, off-airport, and regional operating environments. \nStrong communication, escalation management, customer service, and problem-solving skills. \nAbility to work with product managers, service providers, facilities, security, compliance, IT, and district leadership. \nProficiency with Expeditors operating systems, reporting tools, warehouse tools, and Microsoft Office. \nTechnical Skills\nStrong understanding of software development principles.\nExperience with automation platforms such as Power Automate.\nExperience with Microsoft Copilot and M365 technologies.\nFamiliarity with data structures, APIs, integrations, and system architecture.\nBasic understanding of AI, machine learning, LLMs, and prompt engineering.\nAbility to troubleshoot technical issues independently.\nBusiness Skills\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities.\nAbility to understand complex operational processes.\nExperience translating business requirements into technical solutions.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills. \nPreferred\nExperience with airport CFS, FTZ, bonded freight, air import, air export, GNS, cartage, or gateway operations. \nExperience managing warehouse KPIs, CFS monitor metrics, dwell, truck queue time, inventory controls, and operational dashboards. \nExperience supporting new facility launches, facility transitions, customer implementations, or service provider transitions. \nFamiliarity with cargo security, TSA/CCSF expectations, SIDA environments, customs-controlled freight, and customer audit readiness. \nExperience with continuous improvement, process mapping, labor planning, and productivity management. \nExperience developing automations, applications, or digital solutions.\nExperience leading cross-functional projects.\nExperience working in operations, logistics, finance, or enterprise shared services
