This role will have accountability for the integrity and governance of the balance sheet, lead ICFR and SOX readiness activities, and provide disciplined oversight of capital governance through the ESS Capital Committee. The role will also lead a global team of 3 finance resources across onshore and offshore locations, ensuring high-quality execution, strong controls, and effective support to ESS leadership.\nKey Responsibilities Include but not limited to:\nBalance Sheet & Controllership Oversight\nProvide overall finance oversight of the ESS balance sheet, ensuring accounts are complete, accurate, well-controlled, and appropriately supported by reconciliations and analysis.\nDrive a robust balance sheet review and governance process, identifying risks, trends, and opportunities for remediation and improvement across working capital, accruals, intercompany, and other key balances.\nPartner with Corporate Controllership, Finance, and business leaders to resolve accounting and controllership matters and ensure consistent application of policies and standards.\nICFR & SOX Readiness\nOwn ESS readiness for ICFR and SOX requirements, coordinating control design, documentation, testing, evidence, remediation, and ongoing control effectiveness activities.\nPartner with control owners, Internal Audit, Corporate Controllership, and other stakeholders to identify gaps, strengthen the control environment, and deliver remediation plans on a timely basis.\nEstablish clear governance, reporting, and accountability for SOX readiness, ensuring leadership has visibility of key risks, issues, dependencies, and required actions.\nESS Capital Committee\nAct as secretary of the ESS Capital Committee, coordinating agendas, meeting materials, financial analysis, decision records, approvals, and follow-up actions.\nEnsure capital requests and investment decisions are supported by appropriate financial analysis, governance, and documentation, with clear alignment to ESS priorities and financial objectives.\nProvide effective challenge and advice to stakeholders on capital allocation, prioritization, and financial implications, ensuring decisions are made with appropriate discipline and transparency.\nGlobal Team Leadership & Operational Excellence\nLead, develop, and motivate a globally distributed team of 3 finance resources across onshore and offshore locations, creating clear accountability, strong controls, and high standards of delivery.\nCoach and develop team members through regular feedback, career development, and stretch opportunities, building depth of expertise and a strong succession pipeline within controllership.\nDrive continuous improvement across close, balance sheet governance, controls, reporting, and finance processes to improve quality, reduce manual effort, and strengthen the overall control environment.\n Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification preferred.\nExtensive finance and accounting experience, including significant controllership experience in complex, global, or technology-driven environments.\nStrong experience in balance sheet management, financial controls, close processes, accounting governance, ICFR, SOX, audit readiness, and remediation.\nExperience supporting capital governance, investment decisions, and senior finance or executive governance forums.\nProven ability to lead and develop globally distributed teams and drive change, process improvement, and transformation.\nStrong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders, identify risks, challenge decisions constructively, and drive financial discipline.\n Benefits package includes:\nHybrid working - 40% office based\nGreat compensation package and discretionary bonus\nCore benefits include Pension, Bupa healthcare, Sharesave Scheme and more\n25 days annual leave with 8 bank holidays and 3 volunteering days.
