Only outcome.\nThink big.\nAbout the Role\nARC by ChargeItSpot is seeking an Assistant Controller - Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting to help build the company’s financial reporting, technical accounting, and internal control capabilities during a period of rapid expansion following the close of a growth equity financing. Reporting directly to the Controller, you will own the technical core of the accounting function and shape the reporting, controls, and systems that carry ARC through its next stage of growth.\nThis role is built for a CPA who has seen strong accounting functions from the outside in public accounting and from the inside in industry and now wants to build one. The technical work is genuinely substantive. ARC leases its smart locker units to enterprise clients under multi-year contracts, so you will work through lessor accounting under ASC 842, revenue recognition for bundled hardware, software, and service arrangements, internal-use software capitalization, and the accounting for debt and equity financings - alongside a Controller with deep lessor accounting experience at a global equipment finance company.\nYou will own technical accounting research and policy documentation, manage the annual external audit, and serve as the accounting lead on our general ledger migration and the rollout of a third-party lease portfolio servicing platform. As the finance organization grows, so does the scope of this role.\nThe role is hands-on, and will work closely with the Controller, CFO, and functional leaders across the company.\nRequirements\nOwn the design, documentation, and operation of ARC’s internal control environment over financial reporting and key accounting and operational transactions.\nOwn the preparation and review of monthly and annual financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with US GAAP, including footnote disclosures.\nRun a disciplined, repeatable month-end close, shortening the timeline and improving accuracy through better process, automation, and controls.\nDraft and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and technical memos documenting ARC’s key accounting judgments.\nLead technical accounting research and conclusions across lessor accounting (ASC 842), revenue recognition (ASC 606), internal-use software (ASC 350-40), debt and equity financing transactions, and the application of current expected credit losses (CECL) (ASC 326-20).\nManage the annual external audit and maintain audit-ready schedules and documentation; support tax filings in coordination with our outside tax advisors.\nServe as the accounting lead on our general ledger migration and the implementation of our third-party lease portfolio servicing platform, including ownership of the servicing data that flows into the general ledger.\nSupervise, review, and develop accounting staff as the team grows, building a team culture of accuracy and accountability.\nPartner with FP&A, Sales, and Operations on the accounting implications of new contract structures, products, and markets before deals are signed.\nOwn lender reporting, including covenant compliance support and the related supporting schedules.\nQualifications\n7-9 years of progressive accounting experience\nPreferred 4-5 years in public accounting with a Big 4 firm followed by 3-4 years in the financial services industry.\nActive CPA license.\nExperience supervising staff and reviewing the work of others.\nAdvanced Excel skills and hands-on experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or a similar general ledger; experience with an ERP implementation is a plus.\nStrong judgment and a process-improvement mindset, with the ability to identify problems, propose solutions, and see them through with stakeholders across the company.\nClear communicator who can explain technical conclusions to non-accountants and senior management.\nThrives in a fast-paced, lean environment, moving comfortably between hands-on work and process design.\nPreferred Qualifications\nLessor accounting under ASC 842 and/or revenue recognition for hardware, software, or bundled service arrangements.\nExperience with founder-led, rapidly scaling organizations.\nExperience with debt and equity financing transactions, lender reporting, or transaction diligence.\nExperience building or strengthening an internal control environment at a growing company.\nThe Candidate\nYour integrity and ethical standards are unwavering, and unassailable.
