In this role you will work as part of a team to brainstorm and innovate solving real world industrial problems. The role involves extensive collaboration with scientists and engineers across Exponent’s global network of offices. We expect the position to be a great opportunity for candidates to apply their expertise built through advanced studies. A long-term goal for successful candidates is to build their own expertise in an industrial field, as well as to generate and develop unique business opportunities for the firm.\nYou will be responsible for\nAnalyzing scientific information, testing, and inspections to address polymer and material science matters related to the use of materials in applications in areas such as consumer products, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices\nDeveloping investigation plans using a variety of analytical equipment\nAnalyzing the root cause of a wide variety of polymeric material failures related to issues arising in development, manufacturing, or use of products, and providing failure prevention strategies\nWriting technical reports and written analysis for litigation matters\nGathering and researching information from and conveying technical conclusions to professionals in engineering, business, law, and industry\nYou will have the following skills and qualifications\nPh.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related field\nWritten and verbal fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese\nIn-depth knowledge of Materials science and Engineering\nExcellent hands-on engineering skills with an emphasis on polymer/chemical characterizations\nAbility to clearly communicate findings through written reports and presentations\nAbility to work within project teams with strong desire to contribute; have potential for technical and project managerial leadership\nMust be able to convey complex technical information to individuals in engineering, business, legal and related industries\nExcellent problem-solving abilities\nStrong educational and publication credentials\nThis is a Shanghai, China-based position.
