This professional will assist in complex forensic investigations and consulting engagements involving the design, construction, performance, deterioration, and failure of buildings, bridges, and other structural systems. In this role, you will work as part of a team performing experimental field investigations and diagnostic surveys, modeling the performance of complex structures subject to extreme loads, and authoring technical reports.\nYou will be responsible for\nConducting field investigations and site inspections of buildings, infrastructure, and specialty structures to document conditions, evaluate structural performance, and identify potential contributors to damage, distress, or failure.\nProblem solving to determine root causes of structural performance issues, construction defects, material degradation, and damage associated with events such as extreme weather, earthquakes, flooding, explosions, fire, or damage accumulation under long-term service conditions.\nModeling failures through structural engineering calculations, quantitative analyses, and engineering assessment of load paths, capacity, durability, serviceability, code compliance, and risk to buildings and infrastructure.\nDeveloping and applying state-of-the-art analytical tools, models, and engineering frameworks to characterize structural risks and evaluate failure mechanisms\nCollaborating with teams of structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and material science professionals to solve complex multidisciplinary engineering problems from multiple perspectives.\nPreparing clear, technically rigorous reports, presentations, calculations, and exhibits that communicate engineering findings, conclusions, and recommendations to clients, insurers, attorneys, industry stakeholders, triers of fact, and other technical or non-technical audiences.\nGathering, reviewing, and synthesizing project information, including drawings, specifications, construction records, inspection data, photographs, test results, codes, standards, and relevant technical literature.\nContributing to client service and business development by supporting proposals and developing trusted client relationships\nEstablishing and maintaining professional expertise through continued professional development, technical publications, conference participation, and professional licensure.\nYou will have the following skills and qualifications\nPh.D. in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering focus, or a related field\nP.E. or S.E. license or the ability to become licensed within 4 years of hire\nPresently legally authorized to work in the United States. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent.
